Amanda Holden has blamed harsh studio lighting for Simon Cowell’s migraines after the judge opened up about his debilitating headaches on Wednesday.
The TV mogul, 65, wears a pair of orange-tinted glasses to protect his eyes while shooting in the studio during the Britain’s Got Talent shows and help reduce his migraines.
However, his fellow judge Amanda has now joked the lights are used to keep them all ‘looking young’ as she laughed with her Heart Breakfast co-hosts Ashley Roberts and Jason King.
Discussing Simon’s migraines during Thursday’s show, Amanda confirmed: ‘Well, he does suffer from migraines and the lights are very bright.
‘But I also think they’re quite flattering on him so I would imagine it’s a heady mix of all of those things. But he does get bad headaches bless him.’
Commenting on the orange-tinted glasses, Ashley added: ‘I think it’s a nice fashion choice,’ as Amanda agreed: ‘I love it on him, it’s like Bono! Bono started it didn’t he?’

Jason then teased: ‘Do you know what it reminds me of? What was that innovations catalogue, and you used to have those driving glasses to stop the glare, it’s like that.’
As the threesome laughed, Ashley added: ‘Yeah, exactly! So, it’s not really for his sight?’
Amanda then explained: ‘I think it’s more preventative because of the amount of lighting that’s on me and him to keep us looking young.’
Yet Jason and Ashley both agreed she looked good as they agreed: ‘He looks good we like it!’
Simon, Amanda, Alesha Dixon, 46, and Bruno Tonioli, 69, reunited on Tuesday for the auditions as they began filming for the new series.
Revealing they were in Blackpool for the next round of auditions, Simon declared: ‘We’re back!’
Simon was seen wearing a pair of the coloured lens glasses in the snap, suggesting he is still struggling with migraines a year on.
Last year the star was even forced to miss a couple of the auditions due to the debilitating migraines.

In February he took to his Instagram as he explained to some ‘concerned’ fans that he needs them for health reasons.
He finished off saying: ‘Next week we are filming BGT in Manchester – I look forward to seeing you then. PS. This is why I wear these glasses!’
Sharing a shot of him wearing the glasses while on the judging panel, he wrote: ‘I just found out according to the internet, I have a ‘mystery illness’.
‘For anyone concerned, I missed two auditions at the end of one day, two weeks ago, because I do get migraines after long days in the filming lights.
This series the judges will once again be joined by hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly while YouTube star KSI will also make a guest appearance on the show.
The series was postponed in October following the death of Liam Payne, who rose to fame on Simon’s show, the X Factor in 2010.
