Amanda Holden left red-faced as she is caught out in lie detector test for falsely claiming she likes acts on Britain’s Got Talent that she secretly ‘hates’

Amanda Holden begged ‘don’t ask me which ones’ as she was left red-faced and caught out in a lie detector for falsely claiming she likes acts on Britain’s Got Talent during a recent episode of Heart Radio.

The radio presenter, 54, serves on the panel of the ITV competition alongside Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, and Alesha Dixon.

But as she joined Jamie Theakston for their breakfast radio show, Amanda underwent a lie detector test live on air.

The blonde beauty was exposed for pretending to like an act she hated on Britain’s Got Talent and her real thoughts on Simon Cowell’s dress sense were revealed.

When the examiner asked, ‘Have you ever pretended to love an act on Britain’s Got Talent but actually hated it?’, she replied, ‘No’.

But Jamie piped in and exclaimed, ‘We know the answer to that one’, to which the examiner confirmed she lied and said: ‘You’re not doing very well, Amanda! That was a bit of a deceptive reaction’.

In a moment of worry, Amanda begged the examiner: ‘Don’t ask me which ones!’

Elsewhere in the test, she was asked, ‘Do you think Simon Cowell’s dress sense is good?’

Amanda claimed that when he wears a suit in the live finals, she does, but as she dodged the true nature of the question, the examiner chimed: ‘Oh. I’m seeing a bit of a deceptive reaction Amanda, I’m sorry, Simon Cowell’.

This prompted a further explanation from Amanda as she added: ‘He does look very handsome on the live shows! In a shirt and jacket’.

Amanda’s deception around falsely claiming to like acts may not come as a surprise, as last year’s show saw the panel heckled by the audience. The abuse became so severe that they had to turn off the cameras.

Amanda, at the time, explained that as production got underway for the eighteen series, the audience started calling Simon names and ‘gave him the finger’.

She told The Sun: ‘Because Simon’s in charge, they took it all out on him — they called him an old fart, they flicked the Vs at him, and then all the way through two or three acts there are these women in the camera shot giving him the finger.’

The former Cutting It star added that those same audience members would then approach Simon for a selfie, which he declined.

Amanda has served as a judge on the television talent show since its inception in 2007, having previously been best known as the ex-wife of Les Dennis.

As the auditions visit Blackpool for the first time, Amanda recalled visiting the northern seaside town when she was married to Les in the late 1990s.

She revealed that despite a hint of ‘faded glory’ in the area, there is a history of talent from there, which means that audiences are ‘tough’ to please.

She said: ‘I’ve been around for a long time in this industry and they all honed their acts in the working men’s clubs in the north with big, tough audiences to please.’

Amanda even believes that Blackpool could be the ‘future’ when it comes to auditions, and told fans to ‘forget London’.

Prior to landing her role as a judge, Amanda had appeared in West End productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie and starred on the ITV series Wild at Heart.

Away from the world of showbiz, the HeartFM host is married to record producer Chris Hughes and has daughters Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13, with him.

Even though her Britain’s Got Talent judging role has made her into a household name, Amanda admitted that she ‘cannot imagine’ still doing it in 18 years’ time.

Instead, Amanda thinks it would be a good idea to ‘pass the baton down’ to her children in years to come.
