Amanda Holden Exposes Romance Scam Nearly Costing Man His Home

Amanda Holden has revealed how her name was used in a shock romance scam that almost cost a man his home.

In an upcoming appearance on the BBC’s Scam Interceptors, the TV personality, 54, joined host Rav Wilding to expose scammers who were pretending to be her. 

One man lost thousands of pounds as a con artist, pretending to be Amanda, attempted to convince him to sell his house so he could come and ‘live with her.’

The Britain’s Got Talent judge said she heard about the ‘shocking’ situation from the police and ‘felt personally responsible for his wellbeing.’ 

Speaking on the programme, she explained: ‘The scammers were going to pocket all his money.

‘Brilliantly, he saw sense just in the nick of time and did not sell his home. He realised that there was no relationship with me directly.’

Amanda continued: ‘It made me realise that my profile is out there being used for all sorts of bad reasons, so I thought if I can use my profile for good, and draw attention to the week of scam programming, then that could only be a positive thing.’ 

She confronted the scammer, dubbed ‘Scamanda’ in the episode and added: ‘I can’t stand injustice.

‘My family and friends say I’m always ready to fight a cause or someone’s corner, so I thought this was something I would be quite passionate about, having had some recent first-hand experience.

‘I’m thrilled to be part of Scam Interceptors – seeing all the drama unfold as it happens? Yes please! Scammers, consider this your warning – Amanda’s watching.’ 

Elsewhere, Amanda is currently working on a music project with iconic producer David Foster.

The TV personality and actress shared a duo of snaps to Instagram last month from her family holiday in Beverly Hills – where she appeared to be working. 

Looking chic in a striped blue shirt and skin-tight jeans, the blonde beauty was seen belting into a microphone with headphones on in her first shot. 

The second snap meanwhile showed her posing happily alongside David, 75, who is a widely-respected producer, composer, arranger, and musician, who has worked with the likes of Quincy Jones, Michael Bublé, Whitney Houston and Chuck Berry.

Elsewhere, Amanda is currently working on a music project with iconic producer David Foster 

In 2019, Amanda signed a recording contract with Virgin EMI Records and in 2020 she released her debut album, Songs from My Heart, through Universal Music, which reached number four on the UK Albums Chart.

In 2020, ahead of a performance of her single Not While I’m Around on Britain’s Got Talent, she said: ‘I was absolutely bricking it…

‘I’ve worked with the backstage crew, sound guys and producers for 15 years and I didn’t want to balls it up in front of them. The most nerve-wracking thing I’ve done’.

While she has not disclosed what she is doing career-wise, Amanda looked to be giving her all in the studio as she performed in front of the legend.
