Alison Hammond rushed to comfort A Place In The Sun star Jasmine Harman as she broke down in tears on This Morning on Wednesday.

Jasmine, 47, was joined on the ITV chat show by her mother Vasoulla for the segment as they discussed Vasoulla’s hoarding problem.

Speaking candidly about the mental health condition with Alison and Dermot O’Leary, Jasmine was overcome with emotion as she broke down in tears.

As the Channel 4 presenter tried to compose herself, a caring Alison rushed to her aid as she offered her a tissue and described Jasmine’s relationship with her mother as a ‘beautiful thing’.

Jasmine, who is best known for presenting the daytime travel show, struggled to get her words out as she opened up about how she has still managed to have a strong relationship with her mother.

The star bravely admitted she felt ’embarrassed’ over her mother’s hoarding and growing up, she wouldn’t have friends over because she was so ‘ashamed’ by the amount of clutter in their house.

As she fought back tears, she told how she now focuses on having a loving relationship with her mother, instead of getting angry at her for her mental heath condition.

She said: ‘I’m so grateful to have her. She has helped me to become a much more compassionate person.

‘We used to fight. We used to argue about it all the time. But now we have a relationship outside that’s not focused on the hoarding.’

Jasmine confessed that her biggest fear at the beginning of her career was that somebody would find out about how she lived and her upbringing, but the star is using her platform to spread awareness.

In 2011, she presented a documentary called My Hoarder Mum And Me and went on to host Britain’s Biggest Hoarders.

Taking to Instagram after her appearance on the ITV show, she wrote: ‘Some of you may have seen me and Mum appearing on @thismorning today, discussing Hoarding Disorder along with Jo from @hoardingdisordersuk.
