Alan Halsalls Heartbreaking Split: Insider Reveals Reason

For the best part of 30 years, 's Tyrone Dobbs has had a rocky time finding love.

And the same could be said for the actor who plays him, , whose romantic life has been marred by a broken marriage and a string of failed relationships.

But while his long-running Corrie character may now be happily settled with wife Fizz, that is not the case for Halsall, who has just become single again after quietly splitting from his girlfriend Ellie Dolan after only a year.

Just a few months ago the 43-year-old actor was reportedly smitten with the HR executive who, at 26, is 17 years his junior.

However, according to sources close to the former couple, they both realised the relationship would not stand the test of time and decided to part ways before it got more serious.

Despite this, Ms Dolan is said to be taking the break-up ‘hard’.

An insider told the Daily Mail: ‘Alan and Ellie have a lot of respect for each other and got on like a house on fire.

‘Friends and family could see how they were both smitten with each other from the beginning and had lots in common.

‘However, when it came to day-to-day life pressures they ultimately realised they were moving in different directions.’

Indeed, with almost two decades between them, the pair are at very different stages in their lives.

But I’m told their dedication to their children and family-oriented outlook on life was something they both valued in each other.

Ms Dolan has two children of her own from a previous relationship who developed a good friendship with Halsall and his 12-year-old daughter, Sienna.

The couple first started dating in December 2024, just weeks after Halsall returned to the UK after appearing on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in Australia.

They managed to keep their blossoming romance under wraps, before finally going public after rumours emerged about their relationship in May 2025.

The sweet picture, which Halsall posted on his official Instagram account revealing their relationship, showed him happy and smiling with Sienna standing in between the new couple.

Another source has also revealed just how close Ms Dolan had become with his daughter – who is his ‘world’, according to close friends

‘Alan is extremely protective of Sienna and he would do anything for her, the bond they have is so strong,’ said my source.

‘Understandably, Alan did not introduce Ellie to Sienna until he was sure there was a future for them both and that was also the same in Ellie’s case.

‘Ever since they were introduced though, they have gotten on so well and they have all enjoyed family days out.’

Halsall also looked happier than ever with Ms Dolan by his side when they attended his co-star Jack P. Shepherd’s wedding in July last year.

The Corrie star had a big smile on his face as he held Ms Dolan’s hand. She looked content in a gorgeous butter-yellow dress, as they walked into the church.

It was viewed by friends of the actor as their first official event together as a couple.

Nine months later and after weeks of not sharing any pictures of each other on social media, rumours of their break-up began swirling.

The pair then unfollowed each other on Instagram, with Halsall going so far as to remove images he had been tagged in with her from their public outings together.

‘Ellie has taken the split hard, she had been introduced to Alan’s family and friends and had grown extremely fond of them,’ said my insider.

‘She is still in touch with some of them, including his brother, Stephen. It is incredibly sad but unfortunately this happens with break-ups.’

Ms Dolan briefly deactivated her Instagram account in recent weeks, but has since reinstated the profile, which is now locked from public view.

Adapting to single life again, Halsall has thrown himself into work on the Weatherfield cobbles, spending time with friends and hitting the golf course as much as he can.

Sienna has also kept him busy, recently following in his footsteps after she landed her first acting gig in an upcoming Christmas pantomime.

A representative for Halsall did not respond to requests for comment.

The Corrie star welcomed Sienna with his ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson in 2013.

The exes were once TV’s golden couple in the noughties, having met on the set of Coronation Street in 2005.

At the time, Ms Hudson was playing the role of troubled teenager Katy Harris, though she left the programme that year in a tragic storyline that saw her character take her own life.
