Alan Carr in Talks for BBC Chat Show Comeback After Celebrity Traitors Success

BBC bosses are reportedly preparing to offer Celebrity Traitors star Alan Carr his own chat show, nearly a decade after his hit Channel 4 series Chatty Man ended.

The comedian, 49, has become one of the breakout stars of the BBC’s latest hit, with insiders claiming his popularity has sparked a bidding war among TV producers. 

Discussions are said to be under way for a new entertainment format, with one idea involving his close friend Jonathan Ross, though that option may be off the table as Jonathan is thought to have renewed his own chat show deal.

Alan’s sharp wit and natural charm has made him a standout on Celebrity Traitors, and with him knowing so many people within the industry it is believed he could bring in some hight profile names if given his own series. 

BBC executives are also thought to be especially keen to keep him within their line-up following the show’s record-breaking viewing figures.

A source told The Sun: ‘Alan is a natural raconteur and viewers are getting to see him at his absolute best.

‘Not only is he eminently likeable, he also has an incredible contacts book, so could pull in a few huge names onto his show.

‘His agent has been sent a raft of offers and ideas over the past ten days, and the BBC are keen to keep their stand-out Traitors asset.

Th Daily Mail has contacted the BBC and Alan Carr ‘s representatives for comment.

The first episode of the star-studded Celebrity Traitors drew over 12 million viewers, with the finale expected to exceed 15 million, making it the most-watched programme on terrestrial TV.

Alan already has a strong relationship with the BBC, having fronted a number of projects including his Radio 2 shows and hit travel series Adventures with Amanda Holden, which was recently renewed for a fourth series.

From 2009 to 2017, Alan hosted Chatty Man, welcoming A-list guests including Adele, Cameron Diaz, Kylie Minogue and One Direction.

The news comes after Alan and Cat Burns have proved the friendship they formed on the show has proved long lasting in a hilarious new TikTok video.

Alan and the singer, 25, are both Traitors on the current celebrity series along with chat show host Jonathan Ross.

 On Tuesday’s episode, Alan described him and Cat as ‘thick as thieves’, so much so that he would be willing to vote out Jonathan if needs be. 

In a new video shared on Alan’s TikTok, the pals are seen getting themselves ready to don their Traitors cloaks.

At the beginning of the clip, Cat removes the cloaks from the washing machine and Alan is then seen ironing his while Cat polishes a lantern. 

‘I think I’m gonna enjoy being a Traitor,’ Alan says loudly while ironing.   

‘Shut up Alan, you’re too loud again!’ Cat says.

Alan then giggles as he puts on his cloak and hood before the pair are seen skipping down the street together to Dolly Parton’s 9 To 5.
