Alan Carr, Celebrity Traitors’ Winner, Shares Tearful Reaction and Plans to Return Next Year

Alan Carr has spoken out about his Celebrity Traitors’ win after Thursday night’s epic finale.

After weeks of strategic gameplay, alliances and betrayals, the comedian, 49, managed to hoodwink Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga into believing he was a Faithful.

Viewers watched in awe and bewilderment as Alan took the crown and £87,500 prize, despite his previous claims he was as bad a Traitor as series three star Linda Rands.

Speaking of the emotional moment, the TV personality revealed why he broke down in tears after finally confiding his true identity and admitted he would be up for returning to the castle for another series.

He said: ‘I think all the deceit, the lying, the murdering of Paloma and Celia had all taken its toll.’

Alan was forced to murder best friend Paloma Faith and Celia Imrie in plain sight during the thrilling game.

He continued: ‘I think it dawned on me that I had won such a huge amount for my charity, Neuroblastoma UK.

‘The charity is so close to my heart that it all became a bit too much. Hopefully when people see how upset I was they won’t feel so bad that I killed all those national treasures.’

Neuroblastoma UK is a national charity, dedicated to finding a cure to the aggressive childhood cancer.

Alan admitted he thought he had been rumbled after having to quote Shakespeare to murder Celia.

But he said he managed to use his humour as his ‘secret weapon’ to get him off the hook multiple times.

He said: ‘Spouting Shakespeare at the dinner party was so not me and so out of character that I thought it would’ve been a red flag to the Faithful but at breakfast no one mentioned it.

‘I’d really really got close to Celia in the castle. We would have little chats in the library and when it was a Shakespeare quote, I thought it’s got to be Celia as she’s an actress on stage and screen so in a way it has to be her that I say the quote to. It was a real conundrum for me murdering someone whose company I really enjoyed.’

The comedian also commented on his viral moments on the show and the overwhelming response from fans.

He said: ‘What surprised me most was the impact of me wearing the cloak when I wore it in the castle on the first episode.

‘I thought I looked quite good – clearly, I was wrong! People dressed up as me for Halloween. Someone had made a batch of cookies with my face on it.

‘But the most amazing one for me was on the 5th of November being driven past the Houses of Parliament seeing a billboard saying “The greatest Traitors since Guy Fawkes” was something I will never ever forget.’

And Alan hasn’t ruled out a return to the show, following his huge success.

He said: ‘I want to do it next year as well – maybe I can just sneak in with my cloak and lantern and murder someone just for the thrill, just for old time’s sake.’

Fans of the show took to X to comment on the epic scenes, sharing their disbelief as to how Alan managed to win.

One wrote: ‘Well done Alan. Of the Traitors you deserved it most. It had to be you or Joe. Alan played it all brilliantly from start to finish. Murdering in plain sight twice. He more than earned it. Great charity too.’

Others said: ‘How Alan managed to win it still baffles me but kept us on our toes for sure’.

‘Who would’ve thought Alan Carr would be the greatest traitor of all time! What an incredible series. Our people’s princess for life.’

‘Alan Carr was hiding in plain sight. Nick Mohammed how could you? I literally thought they’ve left it late but they’ll get them all! Blahhh! Never mind, great charity. Children’s brain tumours need a lot more research’.

In the episode, the final five – singer Cat, rugby player Joe Marler, 35, comic Nick, 45, historian and broadcaster David, 55, and Alan – faced one last roundtable where suspicions ran high.

Joe, believing Alan and Cat were the Traitors, made a pact to vote against David while secretly plotting to expose them later.

Viewers watched with baited breath as David desperately defended himself, before the singer was voted out after Joe made a last minute U-turn.

Remaining Traitor Alan told viewers, Cat’s departure had ‘thrown a spanner in the works’ as he had to battle it out for the win solo.

Suspicions a Traitor was still lurking in their midst was still high as the songstress did not reveal her true identity in her departing speech.

Reflecting on her time, Cat said: ‘I wouldn’t change a thing. I got to the final. I’m proud of myself.’

Nick then turned on ‘true Faithful’ Joe in the final moments as the final four headed to the firepit to cast stones and reveal if they thought there was still a Traitor among them.

In a shock change of heart, Nick said he doubted Joe after spotting him say ‘I’m sorry’ when he banished Cat.

Nick said: ‘I adore you, honestly I didn’t believe it but you voting for Cat is what sealed it, but I love you.’

Joe said after being banished by his fellow Faithful: ‘I read it so wrong. It hurts to be stabbed in the back last minute like that’.

With just David, Alan and Nick, it was up to them to decide if there was a Traitor in their midst.

David said: ‘I’ve never believed Alan is a Traitor.’

Nick also voted to end the game. The actor said: ‘I genuinely believe both of you are Faithful. I think we did it’ – only for Alan to pull the rug from under their feet when he made his bombshell revelation.
