Series one of the acclaimed show followed Stockport-based Gemma, played by Aimee, who finds out she’s pregnant after a one-night stand.
The panicked mother-to-be is forced to turn to her hapless father Malcolm, (played by David) after revealing her sister Catherine (Sharon Rooney) is in prison and her mother Davina, played by Susan Lynch, is enjoying travelling around the world to find herself.
The end of the series saw Gemma going into labour at Rita’s (Sarah Hadland) salon, then giving birth to baby Sadie with friends Cherry (Taj Atwal) and Xander, played by Arian Nik, by her side.
Gemma’s father Malcolm rushes over to make it to the hospital in time, with his toxic friend Derek (played by David Fynn) in tow.
But a face from the past unexpectedly appears and throws everything up in the air.
The Sex Education star told the BBC that Daddy Issues was ‘the most fun I’ve ever had on a job’ and said she was excited to start on the second series.
She added: ‘I just know it’s going to be hilarious and heart melting.’

The genius behind the BBC hit show, Danielle Ward, said: ‘A second series? And I’ve found out by reading this press release? Unbelievable.
‘I’m thrilled to be writing for Aimee and David (and the rest of this fabulous cast) again. I love the Moscrips and can’t wait to crack on with their continuing adventures. Sure a bit of a break would be nice but my hair will grow back, right?’
The hit comedy, which was produced by the creators of The Inbetweeners, has a star-studded team behind it, including director Damon Beesley, who helmed the BBC hit drama White Gold.
The announcement comes after the BAFTA-award-winning actress revealed that her blossoming career hit a stumbling block when she auditioned for the HBO smash hit The White Lotus.
Aimee revealed that the producers of White Lotus season three didn’t like her American accent and asked her to stick with her native Manchester twang instead.
The actress revealed that she did several auditions in her usual voice and in an American accent but in the end, the producers opted for her Manchester tone.
The star had her breakout role in the hit Netflix coming-of-age drama and has since gone on to star in films including The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, Seize Them! and Living.
