Aidan Turner stripped off his shirt in Poldark, then played charismatic moustachioed TV star Declan O’Hara in an adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s racy novel Rivals.
And now, big moustache intact, he is bringing his considerable sex appeal to a West End adaptation of Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
The steamy novel of betrayal, revenge and seduction set among the French aristocracy in the 1790s was turned into an Oscar-winning 1988 film – Dangerous Liaisons.
In the new stage version, Turner, 42, is the amoral Vicomte de Valmont, played by John Malkovich in the film. Lesley Manville 69, is the powerful and vindictive Marquise de Merteuil, played by Glenn Close in 1988.
Lesley Manville and Aidan Turner feature in this striking reimagining of Choderlos de Laclos’ classic novel, directed by Marianne Elliott
The play runs from March 21 to June 6 at The National Theatre
