AFL WAG Sophie Cachia divides fans as she shares shock birth image – after welcoming her third child to the world: ‘Nothing is kept private anymore’

Sophie Cachia has divided her fans after sharing an intimate picture of herself giving birth to her third child.

The former AFL WAG, 34, welcomed her newborn daughter Esmé to the world on 28 January via sperm donor, sharing the announcement on Instagram just days later.

The mother-of-three has now marked her baby girl’s one month birthday with a very graphic photo of the moment she was born, leaving some followers stunned.

In the image, Sophie could be seen helping a doctor pull Esmé from her body as the bundle of joy reached out for her mother.

New girlfriend AFLW star Madison Prespakis stood at Sophie’s bedside watching the birth with delight as she placed a supportive hand on her partner’s leg.

Sophie’s eldest child Bobby, 10, was also in the room supporting his mother as he watched his new sister enter the world.

Fans flocked to the comments of the shocking post, with some slamming Sophie for sharing such an intimate moment with her 260,000 followers.

‘Nothing is kept private anymore, that’s for sure,’ one person wrote.

‘That was a lot for 7am. I’m not even out of bed yet,’ wrote a third.

Despite the backlash, Sophie was inundated with support from friends and fans who praised her for catching the ‘beautiful’ and ‘powerful’ moment on camera.

‘Incredible photo! Thank you for sharing. As a woman who didn’t have kids, I’ve never seen one born. Our bodies are amazing! Happy one month baby Esme,’ one said.

‘So beautiful,’ added another, as someone else commented: ‘This photo is so beautiful and so powerful.’

‘Wow! What a gorgeous memory captured,’ yet another penned.

Sophie announced the birth of her third child late last month after undergoing intrauterine insemination (IUI) as a single mother last year.

Sharing photos from the hospital, she wrote: ‘Esmé Sophie Shaw joined our world on Jan 28th at 5:58pm watched on by her amazing big brother & sister.

‘My dream experience to have them there and now diving deep into my love bubble.’

The photos featured Sophie cradling baby Esmé alongside her 24-year-old girlfriend Madison.

Sophie’s two other children, Bobby and Florence, seven, whom she shares with ex-husband Jaryd Cachia, were also present in the family photos.

The post was met with warm congratulations and well wishes from friends and fans.

‘Congratulations to you all love her name,’ one user commented.

‘A big congratulations lovely! How special. I love her name,’ said another.

‘How fabulous and wonderful! Enjoy every moment you beautiful soul!’ one added.

The WAG-turned-influencer confirmed she was expecting her third child in July 2024.

Sophie underwent fertility treatment with a sperm donor and has previously said she will not reveal who that is, other than to say it was not Jaryd.

A follower asked: ‘I’m so interested in your conception. Sperm donor? Not to be judgy but to learn and then support! Respect privacy completely.’

In response, Sophie rejected fans’ theories about Jaryd being the father of her baby girl, calling them ‘wild’ and saying she won’t discuss the matter any further yet.

She penned: ‘I knew I’d face questions and intrigue and that’s totally fine and perhaps one day when I’m ready I will discuss everything.

‘However, something I wasn’t prepared for was the MANY assumptions/questions around my ex-husband being the father.

‘Do you know many people having kids with their ex six years after separation lol?

‘Just because we have an amicable family relationship co-parenting our amazing B&F, doesn’t mean we’re making more babies together, wild.’

She described her fans’ questions as ‘intrusive’.

‘A baby is blessing the world—that is all. As I mentioned, if I choose one day to share—I will,’ she added.

Meanwhile, Sophie previously hinted she will be raising her third child as a single parent.

A fan wrote: ‘Love this for you and your family! You will be fine on your own, already an amazing mama! Congratulations,’ to which Sophie responded with: ‘Thank you so much!’

Sophie was married to Jaryd, 33,  from October 2015 to September 2019 after welcoming their two children.

Since their split, she has struck up several back-to-back romances with high-profile sportswomen.

She first dated Matildas soccer player Alanna Kennedy, before briefly getting engaged to WNBL star Maddie Garrick, and she then went on to have a year-long romance with AFLW star Sophie Van De Heuvel.

In October, Sophie said she would like more children.

Sophie made the comment in her Stories after uploading a video in which she first discussed having four children ‘back to back’.

Posting the selfie to Instagram, Sophie reacted to fans who asked her what having ‘back to back babies’ meant.

‘I didn’t realise so many people didn’t know what [it meant],’ she said.

‘And the amount of people who were surprised I would want four children. It’s blown a lot of peoples minds.

‘I would love the opportunity to go back to back just to get it done. I’m 35 next year and I’m gonna have another 11 year-old.

‘But my body is struggling at the moment with [baby] number three, so I’ll just have to get back to you on that one.’

The fashion entrepreneur then admitted she would love to have six children, but potentially via surrogacy.
