Adolescence Star Owen Cooper, 15, Celebrates Emmy Win at Netflix Bash

Adolescence star Owen Cooper was the man of the hour at Sunday’s Emmy Awards.

Aged just 15, the Warrington-born talent walked away with the Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie award for his chilling role as Jamie Miller in the four-part Netflix show, which he filmed at the age of 14.

And Owen proved himself to be well in with the movers and shakers of Hollywood as he partied up a storm at the streaming giant’s Emmys after-party – ahead of his return to school in Warrington on Wednesday.

While larking around at the bash, he was part of a superstar selfie taken by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and also including Adolescence creators Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, and the mini-series’ director Philip Barantini.

Owen was also seen chatting to his co-star and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie winner Erin Doherty, who has changed out of her dazzling black gown in favour of a funky Louis Vuitton shellsuit.

The group had plenty to celebrate after the show, which was released in March, took home a whopping eight awards, including Owen’s incredible gong, which made him the youngest ever Emmy winner.

Also attending the party was Owen’s carer mum Noreen, 51, and IT worker dad Andy, 44, who were on hand when his big win was announced.

Ted certainly seemed proud of Owen, as they posed together with the CEO, who is worth an estimated $200m (£147m), pointing at the teen’s statue.

In the series, fellow victor Erin plays clinical psychologist Briony Ariston, who holds a terrifying final interview with Owen’s character, 13-year-old murder suspect Jamie, to assess his mind before his trial.

While Erin stormed the stage earlier in the evening in a dazzling black gown, she opted for a stark contrast for her after-party look.

The stunner, who gave Owen a shout out in her accepance speech, was clad in a Louis Vuitton shellsuit, the top of which rings in at around $3.4k (£2.5k).

During the ceremony, Owen placed his head in his hands when Sydney Sweeney announced his victory, having beat out Javier Bardem, Rob Delaney, Peter Sarsgaard, Bill Camp and his Adolescence co-star Ashley Walters for the award.

While 500 other aspiring teens applied for the role, Playstation-devotee and football lover Owen captured the eye of casting director Shaheen Baig and co-star and creator Stephen, who knew immediately he was the teen for the job.
