Adam Peaty Called ‘Narcissist’ by Family Over Wedding Ban for Mother

Adam Peaty has been branded a ‘narcissist’ by his furious family after it was revealed he banned his mother from their lavish wedding. 

On Monday, it was revealed the Olympian’s mum Caroline, 59, has been banned from attending Adam’s Christmas wedding to Holly, 25, as a result of the fallout.

Then, on Tuesday, Adam’s aunt Louise weighed into the feud, and said of her sister: ‘She’s not ok at all. Holly and Adam have broken my darling sister’.

She claimed Adam is ‘ashamed’ of his brothers and then bizarrely shared pictures of Holly at the hen do on her Threads account.

Now, Adam’s family have branded him a ‘narcissist’ and claimed he has been ‘changed’ by money and ‘forgotten where he came from’. 

A member of the clan told The Sun: ‘We were sent a ‘save the date’ and it’s all these country houses.

‘I’m on Universal Credit — I can’t afford that.

‘Adam has been changed by money, fame and fortune. He seems to have forgotten where he came from.

‘We think he has treated Caroline appallingly. You can hear it in her voice. She’s heartbroken.’

Daily Mail has contacted representatives for comment.

Another source told the publication while his family were originally supportive of his engagement to Holly, they feel ‘they have been pushed further and further from Adam over the past year’.

They said: ‘It seems to some of the family that Adam is more at home with Holly and her folks, while his family has been left behind.

‘Caroline is devoted to her grandson George and will move heaven and earth to care for him.

‘As tensions have risen, there have been rows and Caroline has always toed the line because she wants to be a part of her grandson’s life.

‘Recently, though, things have come to a head.’

Both sides of the family have spilled poisonous details on the feud to the Daily Mail’s Consultant Showbusiness Editor Katie Hind who revealed the shocking real reason behind Caroline being uninvited from the nuptials. 

When Holly failed to invite Caroline, who helped steer Adam to Olympic glory, to Holly’s hen party, she was left languishing at home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, looking after her five-year-old grandson George – Adam’s child with ex-girlfriend Eirianedd Munro.

Caroline took to Instagram on Monday to share a cryptic image reading: ‘When you love someone, you protect them from the pain, you don’t become the cause of it.’

She captioned the post with: ‘The ones I love are the people who hurt me the most.’

The post was soon flooded with comments and likes from the Peaty family, including Aunty Louise detailing the apparent reasons why there was a hen do snub as well as comments about Adam’s brothers and their mental health problems.

She wrote: ‘They banned her because she would not apologise re the cancellation of the Bath trip because of the train cancellation and Caroline’s refusal to turn her back on her son’s, his brothers who both suffer from adhd and mental health problems and whom Adam considers to be an embarrassment…

‘However it was ok for Adam to make money off his brothers problems in his book. Can I ask I don’t know if you are a mum but would you turn your back on two sons who needed you to remain in favour with a celebrity?’  

Her reference to a trip to Bath comes after it was revealed that his parents were invited to the wedding, along with other family members, and Caroline excitedly bought a dress.

But, according to the source, the star and his fiancée didn’t like the ensemble so offered to buy her a different one of their choice. The Peatys had been gifted train travel and accommodation to visit Bath to go shopping, which they accepted.

The planned trip never happened because services going south were either delayed or cancelled due to multiple stabbings on a train in Huntingdon two weeks ago.

Louise publicly blasted Holly over the snub to her future mother-in-law who had ‘opened her home and heart to you’, saying it had inflicted ‘a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever’.  

Her post stated: ‘@hollyramsayy I’m so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply.

‘A woman who opened her home and heart to you. You decided, for whatever reason, not to invite her, your prospective mother-in-law to your hen night yet Adam invited his father-in-law, your dad, to his stag night.

‘You invited your mum (quite rightly) and even your mum’s assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece, but not my sister, your future mother-in-law.

‘I have also seen messages passing between her and Adam about this and other matters and, quite frankly, I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.’ 

The post is said to have deeply upset Holly and world champion swimmer Adam who have been dating for more than two years and are due to get married at Bath Abbey at Christmas.

A source close to the Peaty family revealed that the swimmer had left his mother ‘heartbroken’ after her sister’s post by contacting her to ban her from the wedding and to tell her she would not see his son George or any future grandchildren again.

In another message to his mother, seen by the Daily Mail, Adam stated his intention to disown his family, despite them having supported him throughout his career.

Caroline waded into the incredible row by expressing her distress in an Instagram post which stated: ‘Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is.’

Adam and Holly met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 when Holly’s younger sister Tilly was competing on the series alongside Adam.

Adam split with his partner Eirianedd Munro, the mother of his son George, the following year.

He and Holly reportedly began dating in May 2023 and quickly confirmed their relationship the following month.
