Abbie Chatfield has gone to bat for FBoy Island after season two premiered last week.
The television host defended the reality dating show from critics who feel it paints men in a bad light.
‘We are making fun of patriarchy and of men, but also we don’t want to do it too earnestly. That kind of puts off anyone. It’s a very complex tone to hit,’ the 29-year-old tells news.com.au.
‘If you are a hardcore feminist, you’re not going to learn anything from this show. You can enjoy it, you can have fun with it, you can digest it. But you’re not going to be like, “Wow, mind blowing”‘ she added.
‘But I think it’s really good for a standard reality TV audience, who’s maybe even a bit conservative or unaware, to watch this show and have easily digestible little nuggets of feminism sprinkled on top of a dramatic reality show.’
Abbie went on to say that the show allows her to ‘call out sexism in the moment’ adding, ‘I don’t think any other show has a host that’s allowed to do that’.
It come after Abbie called out the Logies for not nominating the series for a lack of nominations.

Abbie was quick to re-share the post, adding her own cutting comment underneath the image.
‘If only we were nominated for anything! Robbed!’ the 29-year-old wrote, referring to the lack of nods for the reality show in this year’s Logies roundup.
A new cast of hunky FBoys and Nice Guys are now in the running for love or $50,000 cash on season two of Chatfield’s matchmaking show.
Krystal Thomas, Ally Wood and Nicole Miltrov are tasked with navigating the dating pool and determine which men are there for love, and which just want the money.
The men vying for their attention include account manager Wes, 28, music teacher Dart, 28, stand-up comedian Lewis, 30, and stripper Mitch, 27, from Victoria.

Representing South Australia are electrician Doug, 25, basketball player Nuggett, 30, youth worker Norman, 34, and gym manager Paddy, 32.
Construction worker Sean, 23, and fashionista Timothy, 32, are the only two bachelors hailing from Western Australia.
The Queenslanders include ex-military man Aaron, 35, real estate agent Jack, 27, and rigger-turned-model Joe, 25.
Meanwhile, most of the hunks on the upcoming season hail from New South Wales, including gardener Jerome, 28, stuntman Eddy, 31, and DJ Frank, 25.
TikTok star Jake, 31, influencer Jin, 25, model Joey, 23, musician Minjarrah, 30, and expat Vicente, 27, will also appear on the matchmaking series from NSW.
