Radio star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson shared an eyebrow-raising story about her co-star Kyle Sandilands and their missed opportunity with global pop sensation Lady Gaga.
The incident unfolded just as Gaga’s star was beginning to rise, propelled by her hit Just Dance.
Speaking on the Backstage with Cooper and Matty Johns podcast, Jackie O recounted the moment when the global superstar was expected to ascend from an interview at Triple M to their own studio upstairs.
Despite the palpable excitement that usually accompanies such star-studded visits, Sandilands had other ideas.
‘Kyle said, just keep her down there and put her on the telephone. I don’t want to see her,’ Henderson shared, quoting her co-host’s rather unconventional decision.

Explaining his reasoning, Sandilands expressed a preference for brevity: ‘Cause if she’s in studio, it means we’ll have to interview her for longer.’
Opting to limit the interaction, he instructed Henderson to manage the situation so that Gaga would stay downstairs, effectively reducing their face-to-face time.
Reflecting on the decision, Henderson said, ‘Oh my God, we had Lady Gaga in the studio and we just said, “nah, keep her in the booth.” Oh yes! Pretend we’re overseas. That is unreal. Oh God.’

The radio duo, who have been co-hosts of The Kyle and Jackie O Show for more than two decades, signed a record-breaking $200million 10-year contract which will see them on the air for the next decade and expand into the Victorian capital.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, the radio stars expressed no concerns about winning over Melbourne audiences ahead of their highly-anticipated debut.
‘I don’t really think it’ll be an issue at all. I hope they embrace us quickly. But Jackie feels it might be more of a slow burn, but she’s always on the more cautious side of life,’ Kyle said.

They also shut down recent reports of the show ramping up censorship ahead of the interstate move, revealing their secret weapon to winning over listeners is to keep doing what they’re doing.
‘The law is the law. Whether it’s here, or in Melbourne, it’s the same broadcast laws,’ Kyle said.
‘Every radio show can do what we do. They just don’t have the balls to do it … We’d rather be more real so people can communicate and gravitate towards someone on the show that has the same opinion as them.’
