EastEnders is not on our screens on Thursday night in the latest shake-up of the BBC’s schedule leaving fans without a new installment for four days.
There will be no new episode of the legendary soap until Monday following a double-length last night with a repeat episode of Garden Rescue in its place at 7.30pm on BBC One.
EastEnders usually airs at that time from Monday to Thursday, but this week there is no Thursday night episode – meaning no new broadcast until Monday.
Last night’s hour-long episodes saw Jay Brown deal with the shocking aftermath of Nadine’s pregnancy revelation.
Nadine – a sex worker portrayed by Jazzy Phoenix – reappeared in Jay’s (Jamie Borthwick) life to tell him that she is pregnant with his child.
EastEnders has been cancelled on Thursday night after last night’s double-length episode, leaving fans without a new installment for four days
Viewers will be eager to see how Jay (Jamie Borthwick, right) breaks the news to his family that sex worker Nadine (Jazzy Phoenix, left) is pregnant with his child
Jay had hired Nadine because of her resemblance to his late wife Lola Pearce Brown – who was played by Danielle Harold
Jay had been hiring Nadine because of her resemblance to his late wife Lola Pearce Brown (Danielle Harold).
She sat with Jay at The Albert to say: ‘I’m pregnant – 26 weeks. I checked the dates – and it’s yours.’
Astonished, Jay walked out before coming to terms with the reality and accepting he needs to tell his family that he is going to be a father.
Also in the episode, the Beales gathered to remember Lucy – murdered in 2014 – while Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) supported Yolande (Angela Wynter) following her sexual assaulted by Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler).
With no new episode to develop the story on Thursday, viewers will have to bide their time to find out what is in store for all the characters.
The BBC has teased that Yolande will continue to struggle to move on from the assault and her relationship with Patrick (Rudolph Walker) will become strained.
This is far from the first time fans of the soap have been made to wait for an update on their favourite characters.
For example, a Tuesday installment was missed earlier this year when it clashed with an FA Cup fixture being shown live on BBC One.
But viewers will be relieved to know that this week’s disruption is no sign of a permanent change, with the 39-year-old soap set to be back to its usual Monday to Thursday routine next week.
However, the soap is back on its usual schedule next week, with viewers set to see how Yolande (Angela Wynter, pictured) struggles to move on from her sexual assault
