Christopher Briney, one of the stars from The Summer I Turned Pretty, attended the US Open alongside his girlfriend – but onlookers were not impressed with her outfit choice.
Briney, who plays Conrad Fisher in the hit romance series, strolled into the star-studded event on Thursday with his long-time girlfriend Isabel Machado.
Machado, a 27-year-old actress, donned a low cut denim Ralph Lauren maxi dress, brown sandals, a vibrant yellow purse and a loose side braid in her hair.
Meanwhile, Briney, also 27, wore white linen pants, a white vest, blue tie, pocket handkerchief, striped jacket and a black man purse.
The pair, who posed on the iconic blue carpet at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens New York, quickly drew attention online with Machado’s style decisions put on the ‘chopping block.’
Raquel Debono, a popular influencer and ‘Make American Hot Again’ creator, shared her unfiltered opinion on Machado’s outfit, simply asking: ‘What are you wearing?’
Debono, 29, noted the actress’s decision to wear a jean dress to an event known for its fashion statements.
‘I’m not even trying to be mean, I just saw this picture and was like “this is actually wild”,’ Debono said.

Online users quickly reacted to Briney and Machado’s outfit choices, with many attacking her for wearing a jean dress to the fashion forward event
‘She’s wearing like a jean dress to the US Open. She doesn’t understand situational dressing, that’s number one.’
The ‘MAHA’ creator was not the only one left displeased by Machado’s look, as another commented: ‘They did not dress her well.’
Debono went on to criticize Machado’s sandals, which she compared to a ‘grandma shoe.’
‘And this ugly a** yellow bag, which I have no clue what that is,’ she said, adding that she thinks Machado is pretty, but not the person she ‘imagined’ Briney with.
While many were left upset with Machado’s outfit, others were equally as disappointed with her boyfriend’s clothing.
Debono specifically didn’t understand the inclusion of the bag Briney held in his hand, telling her followers that ‘Conrad Fisher would never.’
‘She’s not that cute and he needs to brush his hair,’ another user said.
‘Yeah he looks gay & she looks Amish but this ain’t it if we’re going for comedic purposes,’ someone else wrote.

Others were left very pleased by the couple’s outfits, as one wrote: ‘Hottest couple.’
‘I haven’t been this attracted to a celebrity in years he’s so handsome. His girlfriend is gorgeous and they look so in love,’ a commenter said.

Briney has captured the hearts of millions of fans of the Amazon Prime show that is currently airing its third season weekly.
The basis of the series centers around main female lead Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) choosing between two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) – sparking a fierce online debate over whether as a viewer you are ‘team Conrad’ or ‘team Jeremiah.’
He met Machado, who is also a dancer, years ago at Pace University.
‘We were friends first,’ Briney said of his partner during a 2023 People interview.
‘We went to college together and we lived together. We knew that we could do it.’

They officially started dating in 2021 as Briney celebrated their one year anniversary with a cute Instagram snap which he captioned: ‘A whole year!? I could never want anything else.’
They have since appeared on several red carpets together looking loved-up and regularly feature on each other’s Instagram accounts.
Aside from his breakthrough role in The Summer I Turned Pretty he has also starred in the musical film Mean Girls (2024).
Briney was born in Connecticut to two actor parents and studied in New York where he met his current partner.
His girlfriend has started a few independent films, including Akron, Minuet and I Don’t Bite, per her IMDb page.
