They say autumn marks the beginning of ‘cuffing season’, but it seems for many celebrities it will be a September of singledom.
Despite the glitz and glamour of the entertainment world, from A-listers to reality TV stars no one is immune to the trials and tribulations of love.
Juggling successful careers and a life in the limelight often leads to some tension and this summer it seems an especially large number of high-profile (or not so) celebrities have suffered a break up.
From Hollywood couple Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom and TV This Morning star Cat Deeley and her husband Patrick Kielty the nation has been shocked by a series of splits.
Meanwhile Love Island King and Queen Millie Court and Liam Reardon parted ways despite their love story mirroring a modern day Gavin & Stacey romance.
As the summer comes to a close, we take a look back at the most surprising and shocking celebrity splits of the sunny months.

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty
The Irish comedian, 54, and This Morning host, 48, who share sons Milo, nine, and James, six, revealed in July that they had taken the decision to end their 12 year marriage, stressing that ‘no other party’ was involved.
Cat and Patrick first met in 2002 while they hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy, however sparks didn’t fly between the couple until 10 years later.
Patrick turned their friendship to romance by flying all the way from Belfast to Los Angeles last minute for a birthday brunch.
After the grand gesture the pair’s relationship went from strength to strength and they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Rome in 2012.
After a decade living in California, the couple’s decided to leave Los Angeles and move back to London in 2020 before Cat began presenting This Morning in 2024.
And while their split came as a shock to fans, Cat did raise eyebrows after she failed to attend Patrick’s mother’s funeral in Ireland back in March.

The family are still seething with Cat’s decision to miss the funeral and say they knew at that moment their marriage was over for good.
Her ‘no show’ back in March has left deep emotional scars within the Kielty family who say it confirmed for them that there was little chance of a reconciliation between the two.
Meanwhile Patrick also admitted he felt like a ‘junior shareholder’ in his marriage to Cat prior to their split.
Speaking on The Mid-Point podcast in July 2023, Patrick told how he thought he was in a ’50/50 partnership’ but then later felt more like a ‘junior shareholder’.
Asked how he and Cat made decisions in their marriage, he said: ‘For a long time I genuinely thought I was in a 50/50 partnership [laughs].
‘Then you realise you’re actually a junior shareholder in a 50/50 partnership.
‘You go, “I thought we were 50/50? Why do you seem to have more shares?”
‘I think with big decisions you kind of have to float stuff and see how that’s going to go. You know, drop that into conversation.’

Romeo Beckham and Kim Turnbull
While his brother Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz spent the summer renewing their vows, sadly Romeo’s love life hasn’t been as lucky this summer.
The middle Beckham son, 23, split from his girlfriend Kim Turnbull in June after seven months together.
The couple’s romance ‘fizzled out’ three weeks after David’s 50th birthday in May with friends telling The Mail that things remain ‘amicable’ between the pair.
One said: ‘Romeo and Kim are both young and they had a lovely time together but at that age things don’t always last forever and they decided to split up.
‘They have been friendly since and have even been at the same venues. It’s a huge shame, particularly as David and Victoria really adored her and thought she made Romeo happy but it wasn’t to be.
‘It happened a couple of weeks ago and relations have remained friendly between them.
‘David and Victoria would hate for the view to be that they split because of Nicola and Brooklyn because that simply isn’t the case.

Friends say that their parting is ‘nothing to do’ with Kim being blamed by Nicola Peltz (pictured) for being the catalyst for the feud that has ripped the Beckham family apart
‘The fact is that Kim has got a really busy career as a DJ and Romeo has a busy work life too, there is lots of travelling for both of them at having a relationship at this time isn’t all that conducive to their lives.’
Kim found herself at the centre of the Beckham family fallout at the start of the summer, after Nicola reportedly claimed that she felt uncomfortable around her after accusations Kim and Brooklyn had been romantically involved in the past.
Speaking out Kim took to Instagram as she explained: ‘I will not continue to receive harassment or be embarrassed on the basis of lies, to fit a certain narrative.
‘I have never been romantically involved in ANY capacity at ANY point with the person in question.’
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom
The Hollywood couple never officially tied the knot despite getting engaged six years ago.
And representatives for the pair confirmed to DailyMail.com that the pair had split in July.
They revealed: ‘Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.
‘They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.’
The pair began dating in 2016 after meeting and bonding over a shared love of In-N-Out burger at a Golden Globes party.
They later got engaged three years later on Valentine’s Day 2019, before welcoming their four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove into the world.
But Covid forced them to postpone their nuptials, and as time passed and the singer got swept up in juggling her career and being a new mum – they welcomed daughter Daisy in August 2020 – the wedding fell to the back burner.
They started to hit a ‘rough patch,’ and with her massive Lifetimes world tour continuing through December, getting married was ‘not on their radar,’ an insider alleged.

Following the news of their split, a source told Us Weekly: ‘Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,’ while also adding that the separation has been ‘not contentious’ thus far.
‘Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.’
The insider further added that the reported breakup had been ‘a long time coming’ and that their relationship had also been ‘tense for months.’
In the wake of the separation, Orlando whisked himself away to Venice to attend the star-studded nuptials between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.
Meanwhile Katy, who had been a guest at Lauren’s bachelorette party in Paris and was also one of the bride’s fellow passengers on the controversial all-female Blue Origin space flight launched by Jeff, was not in attendance.
Rachel Stevens and Brendyn Hatfield
They found love while skating circles during Dancing On Ice back in 2022.
Yet despite Rachel calling Brendyn her ‘soulmate and love’ back in January, the pair have now called it quits after three years of dating.
The couple went official with their romance in November 2023 after they were first paired together on the ITV show.
News of their split comes just three months after Rachel told her fans in an Instagram Q&A that their relationship was ‘really good’.
Sources claim the pair ‘drifted apart and struggled to reconcile their blended family’, with a friend telling The Sun: ‘It is incredibly sad and a relatively recent thing. Both Rachel and Brendyn felt there was no way forward for them.
‘Rachel recently took herself to Marbella with her two daughters to get some much-needed headspace, and Brendyn and his young son have now moved out of the family home into a flat.
‘There is still a lot of affection there, and no regrets. But it isn’t easy trying to make a blended family run seamlessly and in the end, tensions between Rachel and Brendyn got too much and they don’t ever want to row in front of their kids who remain their priority.’
The Daily Mail has contacted Rachel and Brendyn’s representatives for comment.

Duncan James and Rodrigo Reis
Duncan James and his boyfriend Rodrigo Reis called it quits on their six year relationship last month.
The pair met in Belgium back in 2019 while the singer was there performing a gig with Blue.
Rodrigo lived in Belgium at the time for work, however the couple managed to make long distance work.
While Duncan would often post loved up snaps with his boyfriend, he has now removed all pictures of Rodrigo from his Instagram and both have unfollowed each other.
A source close to Duncan told The Sun On Sunday: ‘Duncan and Rodrigo have gone their separate ways after six years.
‘A break-up is never easy but Duncan has been throwing himself into the band and keeping his mind occupied with music.’
Daily Mail understands Duncan and Rodrigo ended their relationship a number of months ago.

Despite the pair meeting in November 2018, it wasn’t until April 2019 when their ‘journey officially began’.
In April, Duncan and Rodrigo celebrated six years together, with the hunk sharing a poignant video to his Instagram as a song called ‘meu abrigo’ could be heard playing over the top.
Duncan explained that translated to English it means ‘my shelter’, and conveys love and protection and being there for one another through life’s challenges, which he said reflected their relationship perfectly.
To celebrate, the singer planned a getaway to a hotel in London, where he surprised the flight attendant with a room full of balloons, banners and cake.
Sophie Turner and Peregrine Pearson
Sophie and Peregrine were first linked in October 2023 following the actress’ split from her husband Joe Jonas.
It at the end of last year that it was reported that Sophie could see herself having children with Peregrine, who is the eldest son and heir of Michael Pearson, the 4th Viscount Cowdray.
In November, it was claimed she would ‘love to have children’ with Perry in the future, according to sources who revealed the actress believed he could be ‘the one’.
The pair reportedly split in April this year, however they then appeared to reconcile as they were seen together at Glastonbury Festival in June of this year.
Onlookers said the couple looked ‘smitten’ with one another. One said: ‘Sophie was on the phone looking for Peregrine and then they saw one another and dashed over.
‘They looked so happy.’
However last month it was revealed that the couple had called time on their relationship once again with Sophie reportedly joining celebrity dating app Raya.

Millie Court and Liam Reardon
They were crowned King and Queen of the Love Island villa back in 2021, and after recovering from a brief split in 2022 the pair’s relationship appeared to be going strong.
However, this week Daily Mail revealed Millie and Liam had gone their separate ways after the Welsh influencer pulled the plug on their romance.
Essex girl Millie has been left drowning her sorrows on a girls holiday with pals after being left ‘gutted’.
A source said: ‘Liam and Millie tried to make it work but eventually it just wasn’t meant to be.
‘Nobody thought they were going to get back together after their initial split, so they’ve done well lasting this long – especially as their lives are based in Wales and Essex respectively.
‘But Liam just wasn’t feeling it towards the end and it was he who instigated the breakup.
‘Millie is gutted but is being a trouper and getting on with life, supported by her girls.’
The breakup is likely to spell the end for the pair’s podcast, Liam and Millie, a collaboration with Sony Music which has aired since October 2024.

After Love Island the pair stayed together for a year before splitting, prompting Liam to take part in E4 show Celebs Go Dating.
But the pair reconciled over Easter in 2023 after they were spotted on a romantic break in the Lake District.
Their latest breakup comes as Millie openly ‘hinted’ she was ready for Liam to propose – after she showed him what type of engagement ring she would like.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in June, she said: ‘He’s the one in control of proposing and I’ve gave a little hint and showed him a ring that I would like.
‘Not that it means he’ll do it any time soon but I thought better he knows now so when he does decide to, in the future, he knows what ring I like.
‘He also knows what I would like proposal-wise as well, so where it would be and stuff.’
Elma Pazar and Sammy Root
Despite raising eyebrows with their eight year age gap, the pair unexpectedly hit it off during Love Island All Stars in January and their relationship appeared to be going from strength to strength.
However after four months of dating the pair split in June this year and have currently been seen working through their breakup in recent TOWIE scenes.
Elma, 32, told pal Dani Imbert: ‘You know what it is we got comfortable. Not we, he got comfortable.’
She added: ‘This is the only way I can put it, I can’t put it any better than this. I want magic and I feel like I’m getting mediocre. And I know that sounds horrible but it’s the truth.’
Meanwhile Sammy, 24, appeared to be blind sided as he told Roman Hackett: ‘We went from flying high, perfect couple to, I don’t know what really.’
He continued: ‘It was like overnight. It was so good, like the messages and stuff we were sending each other, we were in love.’
A source close to the couple previously told Daily Mail: ‘Sammy and Elma have called it quits.
‘They split during filming of TOWIE’s latest series in Portugal and the breakdown of their relationship has been captured for the show.
‘It was always a gamble, particularly on Elma’s part, to pursue their romance especially even their age difference.
‘Sadly, everything has now fallen apart and they’re not even on speaking terms.’

Ella Barnes and Neil Farrugia
Another Love Islander has also faced recent heartbreak after Ella Barnes reportedly called time on her romance with entrepreneur Neil Farrugia.
The 25-year-old star is said to have ended things with the fitness enthusiast last month, after the pair found the strain of long distance too difficult to manage.
Ella remains based in Kent, while Neil, 30 – who previously dated fellow Islander Gemma Owen – lives in Malta.
A source told The Sun: ‘Ella and Neil had some amazing times together, but in the end they found it too difficult to make their relationship work long distance.
‘They didn’t have any hard feelings, but realised it was too tough to make it work in the long-run.’
‘They’ve wiped their Instagram accounts of pictures together and unfollowed each other – which has made the split official,’ the source added.
In May, Ella was asked in an Instagram Q&A how she met her boyfriend, and she replied: ‘Me and Olivia Hawkins went to Malta for @isleofmtv festival last summer.
‘I met Neil the first night I got there and we juts clicked instantly. I was never meant to go on the trip it was super last minute.
‘I am truly a believer of that everything happens for a reason. We met organically in person which is so rare these days and I’m super grateful for that.
‘Even more rare is that we make it work long distance! However by the end of the year we will be living together.’
