The film written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios, the CG-animated feature is produced by Amber Naismith (Happy Feet and The LEGO Movie) and co-directed by Richard Jeffery (Bluey, Series 1–3).
For Disney, the film will be overseen by David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, and his team.
Bluey’s creator Joe expressed his excitement about the upcoming movie. He shared: ‘I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that.
‘I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.
‘I’m excited to continue to partner with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the team at BBC Studios, and Dana Walden, Alan Bergman and Disney to bring this new Bluey story to the big screen.’

This week, the BBC revealed plans to transform Bluey into a full-fledged lifestyle brand, marking another major commercial leap for the animated juggernaut.
In just 2024 alone, Bluey was the driving force behind a bumper $4billion in commercial profits for BBC Studios through global licensing, product deals, and themed experiences.
That staggering haul is four times the annual budget of the ABC, which is funded by the federal government and Australian taxpayers.
The ABC was among the original co-commissioners of Bluey, which first aired in 2018, but failed to secure any significant merchandising deals.
In 2024, a large-scale Bluey-themed attraction, Bluey’s World, opened in Brisbane, and was recently named one of Time Magazine’s ‘World’s Greatest Places’ for 2025.
