Lil Nas X’s hotly-anticipated documentary Long Live Montero is officially set to release in UK on May 20.
The insightful tour doc is said to be an ‘intimate portrait’ of the artist as he navigates ‘identity, family, expectations and acceptance’.
The all-access film follows Grammy-winner rapper and singer Lil Nas X – whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill – over 60 days as he embarks on his first ever tour across North America on his namesake debut album tour Long Live Montero.
This deep and real portrayal of the Atlanta-born songwriter will see him on a journey of reflection on his place within the legacy of black, queer performers.
It will give fans the chance to see his most personal experiences – from being raised in the deep south, through to his rise to fame, and finally his place in the pop world as a 24-year-old artist.

LIL NAS X: LONG LIVE MONTERO will include show-stopping performances of global hits including Industry Baby and Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
Produced by Universal Pictures, the film was directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Carlos López Estrada (Raya and the Last Dragon, Blindspotting, Summertime) and Academy Award-nominated director and cinematographer Zac Manuel (This Body, Nonstop, Painted Lady).
The documentary had its first world premiere at Toronto Film Festival in September 2023 and will be available on digital platforms to both rent and own from May 20.
The hitmaker rose to fame in 2019 when he released Old Town Road – and since then he has been dubbed ‘an internationally recognised phenomenon’ by Billboard.
He continued disrupting the music industry – shattering genre norms, disrupting the charts and going viral worldwide.
Old Town Road’s iconic remix with Billy Ray Cyrus became the longest running #1 single in Billboard Hot 100 history after 19 weeks atop the chart, and the 17x Platinum hit is one of the most certified songs in RIAA history and was recognised with numerous awards including two Grammys.
The Rodeo hitmaker also made headlines as a fashion icon for his incredible eye-catching looks.
In September 2021, he published his critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated debut album Montero – for which he received rave reviews across the board and cemented his status as a charismatic, confident performer.
