Orlando Bloom has revealed that his staggering weight loss for his film The Cut resulted in intrusive thoughts.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 48, stars in the psychological thriller, which focuses on how boxers cut to drop weight categories, as a former boxing champion.
Orlando dropped a whopping 30lbs in weight for the role after he was put on a diet which saw him eating nothing but tuna and cucumber for three straight weeks.
Now, Orlando has opened up about he was so hungry during the cutting process that he started to have intrusive thoughts.
In brutal scenes from the upcoming film, Orlando’s slimmed down and ripped figure was on full display as he played the Boxer.
‘It was an intense movie, obviously, partly due to the physical restrictions of getting to that weight, diet has a huge part to play in our mental health and our whole makeup,’ he told Yahoo UK.

‘It’s a requirement that we eat, and [I was] restricting my diet so dramatically, which we did with a great nutritionist from L.A., who tested my blood to make sure that things were okay, and then we started the movie.’
Orlando added: ‘You definitely have some intrusive thoughts when you’re hungry and you’re a little bit paranoid and all of that.’
The Cut debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and is set to be released on September 5.
Last month on This Morning, Orlando revealed the grim reality of his drastic weight loss – including the only two foods he was allowed to eat and some grisly side effects.
Orlando said: ‘I wouldn’t recommend to anyone at home, it’s not something to take lightly. I had a great nutritionist.
‘I was recommended by one of my agents who worked with Christian Bale on some stuff, so he was checking my bloods and stuff. He basically tiered me down from a three meals a day to two, to one.
‘Suddenly all these foods were being taken away from me and my protein powder was the last one. I was like “No! Don’t take that one.”
‘Then basically I came down to [eating] just tuna and cucumber for the last three weeks.

‘We shot the film in reverse chronological order because of the weight. I had no energy or brain power. Mentally, physically, I was hangry. I was a horrible person to be around.’
Orlando also opened up about the mental impact it had on him.
He continued: ‘The paranoia, the intrusive thoughts. We’re supposed to eat and sleep and take care of ourselves.
‘It’s really a commentary on the lengths a person will go to to have that second shot. I think that’s so relatable.
‘Last time we were in this studio, we were talking about this guy who was running the country for charity, people swim the channel, people do crazy things.
‘But athletes do this on the regular. We take it to the extreme for the purposes of the movie…’
Rylan wanted to know a little bit more about the character he plays in the film, who doesn’t even have a name.

‘In a way, he loses his identity, which is partly why Boxer is called Boxer,’ Orlando answered.
‘It’s something that is transferable to anyone in some way.’
Speaking with People about his weight loss, Orlando previously said: ‘I was supervised weekly and my blood work was monitored by an expert nutritionist, Philip Goglia, who helped me lose 30 pounds in approximately three months.
‘Ultimately, this is a story about the struggles we all face and what it takes to battle our internal demons and find self-acceptance.’
