Sabrina Carpenter Shines in Backless Black Gown for Johnnie Walker Campaign Amid Controversy

Sabrina Carpenter oozed sophistication in a black backless gown as she fronted a campaign with Johnnie Walker whisky.

The hitmaker, 26, has collaborated with the Scottish whisky for a new campaign to celebrate the launch of her album, Man’s Best Friend.

In an array of glamorous black and white snaps shared by the whisky brand on Tuesday, Sabrina turned heads in a sophisticated black gown.

Sabrina could be seen wearing the skintight long-sleeved backless number while sitting on a grand piano alongside a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label.

Elsewhere Sabrina featured in a short video in a new ensemble consisting of a white and black ruffled satin mini-dress as she picked up a whisky cocktail.

Advertising the collaboration and the singer’s new album, Johnnie Walker’s Instagram shared the snaps with the caption: ‘Here’s to making new friends @sabrinacarpenter.

‘Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend, out now.’

Sabrina stripped down to stockings and suspenders to pole dance in her new music video for song Tears after she was roasted for her ‘over-sexed’ album cover.

She crawled on all-fours in the new video while looking seductively at the camera where she finds herself in the middle of the woods after a car crash.

Shortly after, she can be seen strutting around in heels and her bridal-inspired lingerie before writhing around on a pole.

Sabrina announced her new album Man’s Best Friend back in June, but the cover art for the upcoming release sparked fierce criticism from fans.

During an Instagram Live, the pop singer shared a video of herself flipping through a stack of records by Donna Summer, ABBA, and Dolly Parton, before stopping on her own, revealing Man’s Best Friend.

The teaser gave a peek at the album cover, showing Sabrina on all fours while a person dressed in black slacks — whose face is not visible — pulls her blonde hair.

She also posted a close-up image of a heart-shaped dog collar engraved with Man’s Best Friend.

The highly sexualised and provocative album art quickly drew backlash.

‘It is not for the pearl clutchers. The album is not for any pearl clutchers no,’ Sabrina said as she hit back at the outrage.

‘But I also think that even pearl clutchers can listen to an album like that in their own solitude and find something that makes them smirk and chuckle to themselves.’

Sabrina admitted her lyrics can be ‘really bold’ and not always something you ‘want to sing in front of other people.’

‘It’s like it’s almost TMI,’ Carpenter quipped.

‘But I think about being at a concert with, you know, however many young women I see in the front row that are screaming at the top of their lungs with their best friends and you can go like, “Oh, we can all like sigh of relief, like, this is just fun and and that’s all it has to be”.’

In June, Sabrina dropped the lead single from the upcoming album, titled Manchild.

It was co-written with Jack Antonoff, a longtime collaborator who is also well known for his extensive work with Taylor Swift.

The track quickly climbed to the top spot on both the Spotify U.S. and Global charts.

Her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, is set to release nearly a year after her previous chart-topping project, Short n’ Sweet, which came out last August.

All three singles from Short n’ Sweet — Espresso, Please Please Please, and Taste — achieved the rare feat of entering Spotify’s Billion Streams Club.

The album sold 10 million copies worldwide and earned Carpenter six Grammy nominations as a first-time nominee.

She won two awards: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for Espresso.
