Geelong Cats star Bailey Smith has had one of his eyebrow-raising pre-game rituals exposed by a teammate.
The 24-year-old’s pre-match habit was revealed by fellow Cat Tom Stewart, who says one particular sound tells the squad he is ready to hit the field.
Bailey reportedly mentally prepares himself for matches by headbutting a wall.
‘When he headbutts the wall of the team room, I sort of know he’s about to go,’ Stewart told AAP.
‘It’s a pretty good sign when you hear a couple of bangs against the plaster. Like “Yep, Baz is ready”.’
The unconventional strategy appears to work for the Melbourne-born player who is having a sensational season, averaging a career-high 31.6 disposals per game and playing a key role in helping Geelong finish second on the ladder.
