Wayne Lineker says his relationship with his older brother Gary ‘is not so good’ and they rarely talk – as he described how he dealt with 12,000 people chanting ‘paedo’ at him during a show at Wembley Arena.
The TV personality and nightclub owner, 61, has been estranged from Gary, 63, since 2008, but insisted he felt no bitterness towards the Match of the Day host.
Wayne was asked about their relationship on the Mail’s comedy podcast Straight to the Comments!, which embraces the hilarity and uniqueness of the MailOnline comment section with the celebs in question.
He told hosts Josh Pieters and Archie Manners: ‘It’s not so good to be honest, we don’t really speak very often. I’ll always be his number one fan.’
But Wayne said he still has a good relationship with his nephews, saying: ‘We’re so close. We’ve got a really strong relationship with George, Harry, Angus and Tobias. They call me Space Wayne – we had a big night out and I ended up being carried out.’

Wayne Lineker has opened up about his tumultuous relationship with brother Gary , admitting things still aren’t settled between the pair after more than a decade of feuding
Insisting he still has a lot of love for his brother, the O Beach owner opened up during an appearance on comedy podcast, Straight To The Comments! (pictured last month)
Wayne also opened up about an incident last year which saw a Wembley Arena crowd jokingly chant ‘paedo’ at him at an event to promote The Peter Crouch Podcast.
The O Beach nightclub owner was brought on stage as one of the live guests during the popular event when the chant began to ripple through the crowd.
Recalling the moment, he said: ‘All of a sudden there’s 12,000 people calling me a paedo because they think it’s funny.
‘My girlfriends are usually 25/30 – they associate that with being too young for me. It all comes from Twitter. I had to come off because I was getting so much abuse.
‘The other lads were really upset and Abbie Clancy was saying she was so sorry for what happened. They wanted to put me back on again and I said ”no way am I going back for more” so I just slipped out.
‘It didn’t upset me because I thought there were 12,000 people in there and they all know who I am. How many of them do I know? None. So I thought f*** them.’
Discussing his relationship with Gary, Wayne explained how the differences between them were obvious from a young age.
He explained: ‘I had all the skill in the world but I had no dedication, no commitments, I just wanted to be out with the lads…
‘Gary had every dedication there was, he was super dedicated, but we’re completely different siblings. He’s very straight and narrow, and I’m very naughty and high. So yeah, we’ve always been like that.’

While Gary’s face is beamed into millions of living rooms up and down the country on Match Of The Day, Wayne insisted he’s the one that rules the roost when it comes to social media.
He revealed that when he’s hosting at his famous Ibiza beach club, O Beach he’s asked to take roughly 300 selfies a day for clubgoers to share online.
Wayne revealed: ‘2000 pictures a week. I’ve worked it out and I think I’m the most photographed person in the world.’
Asked if he’s more photographed than Gary, Wayne continued: ‘Absolutely, yes. He’s not keen on taking pictures but I’m in that environment, aren’t I?
‘You’ve not been to Ibiza unless you’ve had a pic with Wayne, that’s the truth. I said to my PA, I need a clicker! I want to count how many; it finishes at 446.’
Wayne previously revealed the rift with Gary dates back to 2008, when Gary, then planning to wed lingerie model Danielle Bux, took his bride-to-be to meet his sibling for the first time, in Ibiza.
Their introduction was disastrous, Wayne recalled in a chat with The Daily Mail, claiming Danielle had no interest in getting to know him.
When Wayne was invited to Gary and Danielle’s wedding the following year his girlfriend was not invited, despite them being together for 18 months, resulting in Wayne boycotting the ceremony.
Their relationship has never recovered.
