Idina Menzel hilariously commemorated the ten-year anniversary of John Travolta flubbing her name at the 2014 Oscars.
A decade after the Pulp Fiction star, 70, introduced her to the crowd as ‘Adele Dazeem’ after struggling to read the teleprompter, the actress and singer, 52, celebrated her alter ego’s birthday on TikTok.
‘Hey, Adele Dazeem, it’s Idina Menzel. I just want to say happy birthday,’ she said in the clip.
‘I’m sending you so much love and positive energy, I hope you have the best, best day,’ she added, before proceeding to sing happy birthday.
In the caption she wrote, ‘Happy 10th birthday, Adele Dazeem!’

Her fans were tickled by the clip, with one writing, ’10 years already? Adele Dazeem is growing up so fast!’
‘I think about Adele Dazeem at least once a day,’ another added.
‘How is our little Adele Dazeem already double digits?!!’ someone else asked.
‘Happy birthday too “The wickedly talented”, Adele Dazeem,’ yet another person chimed in, quoting Travolta.
Menzel, who voices Elsa in the hit Disney franchise Frozen, was at the Oscars to perform the film’s hit song, ‘Let It Go’, when Travolta made his viral blunder.
‘There will always be a special place in my heart for the movie musical and for the songs that create their most memorable moments,’ he said during the introduciton.
‘Here to perform the Oscar-nominated, gorgeously empowering song “Let It Go,” from the Oscar-winning animated movie Frozen, please welcome the wickedly talented, one and only Adele Dazeem.’
After the moment went viral on social media, Menzel and Travolta were invited to present together next year, at the 2015 ceremony.
And Idina was given her chance to get her revenge on John when she jokingly introduced him as ‘Glom Gazingo.’

The Grease star then walked on stage and hugged her before patting the Wicked star on the face and embracing the joke.
‘I deserve that, but you, my darling, my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel,’ he added, finally correctly pronouncing the line he was meant to deliver the year prior.
‘You got it, not like it’s going to follow me around for the rest of my life or anything,’ she jokingly commented, to which John replied: ‘Yeah, tell me about it.’
This isn’t the first time Menzel has joked about the iconic moment on social media.
During the 2022 TikTok ‘Not My Name’ challenge, she shared Adele alongside her other famous alter egos, including Elphaba in Wicked, Nancy in Enchanted, Rachel’s mom in Glee, Elsa in Frozen, and Maureen in Rent.
In 2015 Travolta admitted that he partially blames actress Goldie Hawn for the unforgettable flub.
Speaking with Jimmy Kimmel he revealed the series of events that led to his confusing and hilarious mistake.
‘The truth is, I was expected backstage and it was getting very close to the time I was supposed to go on and suddenly a page – an assistant to you – grabbed me and said you’re on in a minute,’ he said.
‘I was like “What happened to 15 minutes?” and they didn’t explain. Later I found out my actual page got stuck in an elevator and couldn’t communicate to anybody so the back-up came to get me.’
‘As I get backstage I run into Goldie Hawn. She’s sexy, charismatic, beautiful and I was starstruck, hugging and loving her up, forgetting I had to do this bit.’

‘Then they were like ‘OK you’re on’ and then they said ‘Oh by the way, we’ve changed Idina’s name to a phonetic spelling and I was like ‘Wait – what do you mean?’ ‘Go!’ he said, showing mock panic.
‘So I go out there and I get to her thing and I go ‘Huh?’ In my mind I’m going ‘What? What is that name? I don’t know that name’. And it was this phonetic spelling, and I didn’t rehearse it that way.’
Jimmy then jokingly asked if that meant it was ‘Goldie Hawn’s fault,’ to which John laughed and replied: ‘Maybe.’
Despite the gaffe, John insisted the singer harbors no hard feelings and even credits him for her career success.
He added: ‘The beautiful news, and Idina actually agrees, is that she’s had one of the best years of her life, and her career. And she gives me credit!’
