BBC Radio 1 has reportedly been hit by another presenting shake-up, as Mollie King and Matt Edmondson are moving slots from their weekend show.

The pair have been hosting an afternoon show from Fridays to Sundays for six years, but are now set to move to a brand new slot on Mondays to Thursdays from 1pm to 3pm.

Mollie and Matt are set to replace Vicky Hawkesworth and Dean McCullough, who are also moving to a new slot at the station.

Sources told The Sun that Mollie and Matt were ‘thrilled’ when bosses shared the news, having giving up their weekends to the show for more than half a decade.

It also comes just days after Jordan North revealed he was leaving his Radio 1 drivetime show to join Capital FM, and will be replaced by Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing.

A source said: ‘Mollie and Matt have been massively popular in their afternoon slot from Friday to Sunday and now they’re being moved to Monday to Thursday.

‘It’s huge for them after grafting over the weekend for so long and they were thrilled when they were told.

‘Dean and Vicky are staying at the station and will be moved onto a new slot too.’

It comes after it was also revealed that Mollie would be cycling 500 miles from London to her late dad’s hometown of Hull to raise money for Comic Relief.

Jordan North bid farewell to Radio 1 earlier this month to join Capital’s Breakfast Show, replacing its longtime host Roman Kemp.

Following Jordan’s huge announcement, it was revealed Jamie Laing, 35, will take his place – Monday to Thursday, 3.30pm to 6pm – next to radio co-host Vick Hope.

However, it was claimed that the news he was leaving the show was a ‘shock to him’ as information about the departure ‘was issued without his knowledge in chaotic scenes’.

The publication reports that he had unwittingly already presented his last episode of the show by the time his departure was announced.

Tensions had reportedly been high ‘for months’ about his departure after he let producers know he wanted to leave.

The source said: ‘Conversations were going back and forth between Jordan’s people and the top people at the BBC for months, and over time they deteriorated.

‘Once he formally requested to leave, that was it – he was off air, immediately.

‘It’s a shame it ended on such a bad note after 10 years.’

The BBC and Jordan have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Starting on March, 4, former Made In Chelsea star Jamie will permanently replace Jordan.

Thankful for all the support from his listeners, Jordan – who also hosts the Help I Sexted My Boss podcast – took to Instagram to thank his 834,000 followers for their positive reaction as he broke his silence last week.

Sharing and album of throwback snaps of his time at the station, Jordan captioned his update: ‘Hello everyone.

‘I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my wonderful colleagues / talented producers at Radio 1 who many I consider to be friends for life and will miss greatly, you’ve all reached out to me over the past 24 hours and it really has meant a lot.

‘To my amazing fellow presenters I wish I could thank you all personally, I’ve loved working with you it’s been an absolute blast! Big love to Katie Thisleton, Greg James, Arielle Free, Ricky, Melvin & Charlie, Dean & Vicky, Clara Amfo, Matt & Molly, Scott Mills, Grimmy, all the rest of you fantastic lot, and of course my partner in crime Vick Hope… I’ll miss being on air with you every day.

‘MOST IMPORTANTLY the biggest of thank yous to the fantastic listeners who have been really generous and always made me feel welcome, your kind words & messages have been so lovely, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

‘I’ll be back soon, and can’t wait to see you all again.’

But not all fans were left happy after the announcement as some fled to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their upset.

One penned: ‘Why do the good ones always leave?’

‘Really hope this was your decision @jordannorth1 and that it means bigger things for you – we love you and will miss you v much xx. You will be missed.’

His replacement, Jamie, is a broadcaster and producer who currently co-hosts the hugely successful Radio 1 podcast ‘6 Degrees from Jamie and Spencer’.

He can also be heard on the popular podcast ‘NewlyWeds’ which he presents alongside his wife Sophie Habboo.

The personality tied the knot on April, 14, 2023 in London before they headed to Marbella for a second wedding in front of friends and family on May, 20, 2023.

On the appointment, Jamie said: ‘I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been on air with Radio 1 in recent years, so to be joining Vick on Drivetime is just incredible.

‘To be working with Vick is an absolute dream so I’m beyond excited to get started and keep listeners company on their journeys home.’

Burnley FC mega fan Jordan was announced as a co-host on the BBC Radio 1 daily drivetime show in 2021, alongside Vick.

In 2020, the presenter finished second in the 20th series of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, before he completed an epic 100-mile rowing challenge from London to Burnley for Comic Relief in March 2022.

Head of Radio 1, Aled Haydn Jones said: ‘I’m so excited to officially welcome Jamie to the Radio 1 family. From his hugely popular BBC podcast to his appearances on the network, our young audiences have loved him.

‘His infectious energy and love for music and culture will bring an exciting new element to Drivetime, I can’t wait for people to hear all of the exciting new ideas Vick and Jamie have lined up.’

Radio 1 will also be saying goodbye to Jordan, who has been heard on Radio 1 for the last 10 years with his first major show being Radio 1’s Greatest Hits on Sundays.
