Christian Bale is proving himself a real superhero after spearheading a $22M foster home village to keep siblings together in Palmdale, California.

The Batman star, 51, revealed his plans had been 17-years in the making after being inspired following the birth of daughter Emeline, now 20, whom he shares with wife Sibi Blažić.

Speaking about how common it was for foster siblings to be separated the Welsh star told CBS Sunday Morning: ‘It’s approximately 75% of the time, so can you imagine the trauma of that,’

‘Of being taken from your parents and you lose your siblings, that’s just something that we shouldn’t be doing’.

The village, which has also received financial support from Christian’s fellow A-lister Leonardo DiCaprio, will open next year and include numerous homes that surround a garden with trained foster parents to help families stay together.

Asked if he had every experienced the care system himself, the actor said: ‘I don’t think you have to have a connection to foster care in your past, its just a basic understanding as a society,’

‘How can we not take care of our children, I don’t think it requires a connection I just think it requires having a heart’.

Christian previously claimed that his finical backer Leonardo got first dibs on every major male movie role and said any part anybody gets, it’s only because he’s passed on it beforehand’ while speaking with GQ

He added that he and other actors in the 50-year-old Titanic star’s age range owe their careers to him: ‘I would suspect that almost everybody of similar age to him in Hollywood owes their careers to him passing on whatever project it is.’

‘It doesn’t matter what anyone tells you. It doesn’t matter how friendly you are with the directors. All those people that I’ve worked with multiple times, they all offered every one of those roles to him first,’ the English actor added.

‘I had one of those people actually tell me that. So, thank you, Leo, because literally, he gets to choose everything he does. And good for him, he’s phenomenal.’

It comes after American Psycho fans were left ‘devastated’ as a recent Oscar nominee has been officially cast in the role that Christian portrayed back in 2000 just two months after many voiced their displeasure that a remake was happening in the first place.

Austin Butler is set to star as Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s new interpretation of the book American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis according to Variety on Wednesday.

Many fans took to X (formally Twitter) to express that they were ‘devastated’ by the 33-year-old taking the role.

One social media user wrote: ‘Actually devastated at Austin butler being cast as patrick bateman.’

Another said: ‘Such a miscast. A blonde could never pull it off.’

Others believed that the role would simply be an impression of what Christian did 24 years ago and not anything original.

An X user said: ‘Love Butler but he’s gonna do a (probably great) Christian Bale impression. If this has to be remade, going with an unknown & surrounding him with killers was the way to go.’

It wasn’t all bad as many praised the casting news just a year after Austin was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his work on Elvis.

One said: ‘I think he’s a good fit. I really liked what he did in Dune’

Another was excited by the news as they wrote: ‘I can see this working out well.’

It is important to note that the film will not be a remake of the 2000 American Psycho film starring Bale but will be a reimagining of the aforementioned novel featuring a script from The Laundromat writer Scott Z. Burns.

There had been rumours that Australian hunk Jacob Elordi was being considered for the role but that did not end up happening.
