Travis Kelce: The Groomzilla Planning a ‘Grand’ Wedding to Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce looks set to take over wedding planning in his upcoming nuptials if his meticulously executed proposal to Taylor Swift is anything to go by.

The Chiefs tight-end, 35, got down on one knee and asked the pop icon, also 35, to be his wife surrounded by white and pink flowers in a stunning woodland setting.

The scene looked like something out of a Hollywood film but it apparently wasn’t without hard work from Travis, insiders told the Daily Mail.

‘Travis 100 percent planned this by himself,’ they said, adding that the football star has ‘had a plan for a long time now’ for how he would propose.

‘He wanted it to be completely traditional,’ the insider said. ‘That he would choose the ring and ask for her to marry him.’

‘Based on what he’s told me, she would want the whole thing to be traditional, too. She wants him to take the lead,’ the insider added.

Travis’ father Ed, 74, revealed that Travis and Taylor’s proposal took place two weeks ago at home as he detailed how his son wanted the moment to be ‘perfect’.

He spoke to News 5 Cleveland after the newly-engaged couple shared their happy news with their loyal fans on Instagram.

Ed shared how he told he encouraged Travis to plan a modest ‘roadside’ proposal, but claimed that Travis wanted a ‘grand and special’ event.

Ed told the news channel: ‘He was going to put her off ’til this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.

‘And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event – when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.’

Travis planned the moment by asking Taylor to go out for a glass of wine and when she arrived the proposal was all laid out ready for Travis to pop the question.

He revealed that he had known of Travis’ plans to propose for months and he even expected his son to ask the question during the last football season. 

Part of Travis’ planning process involved designing a stunning £500,000 10-carat engagement ring for Taylor.

He designed the piece of jewellery with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The stone is an Old Mine brilliant cut, which she revealed in photos from the proposal.

While many would have expected Taylor, who is known for curating incredible music videos and tours for her fans, to have a say in the ring it was apparently all Travis – which may well set the tone for who will be making wedding decisions.  

Another thing that would suggest this is according to friends of the star, his scrupulous planning has been years in the making.

It was previously reported that Travis had been studying proposal stories for years, gathering details and even poking fun at himself along the way.

The insider said: ‘He’s a romantic’, explaining that whenever friends got engaged or married, Travis grilled them for every detail. ‘We’d be like, ‘Is that for your Pinterest?’

But now the proposal part is out of the way, Travis apparently has ideas for the wedding day itself.

A source told the Daily Mail: ‘If there’s any guy who has a scrapbook about his dream wedding, it’s TK. It’s going to be the wedding of the century.’

This isn’t the first time Travis has planned something for Taylor either, he pulled off a huge Eras Tour birthday celebration for his then-girlfriend.

The singer was left stunned by Travis last December when he organised a glitzy party with her friends for her 35th birthday – she apparently thought they were going out for a meal.

Pictures of the night flooded social media – with Travis even appearing to give a speech for his girlfriend – even hiring a planner to give her the best night possible.

The revelation came from one of Travis’ closest friends, Harry Clark, when he shared a picture from the night that included Travis and a mystery blonde.

‘Mrs. Make it happen Amanda Carlo,’ he wrote with a sunglasses emoji, tagging Clark herself on Instagram.

‘Thank you for putting together an amazing event,’ he added.

Amanda’s Instagram account is private but her bio says she is the founder of Gold Griff Athlete Agency. Their website lists several Chiefs players on its talent roster but not Kelce.

Before setting Gold Griff up, she worked for the Chiefs as Manager of Community Outreach and Alumni Relations.

But while Travis is certainly set to take the reins on the planning, he has previously joked that most of the decisions should be left to the bride. 

During an episode of their New Heights podcast, Travis and brother Jason read out an advertisement for wedding-planning company Zola.

‘[Zola] knows that the pressure of planning a perfect wedding can be stressful,’ Jason, who married longtime partner Kylie back in 2018, initially said. ‘Ain’t that the truth.’

Travis then reeled a number of ‘Swifties’ in with a hilarious piece of trolling as he slowly said: ‘And no one… currently understands that pressure better than our very own [New Heights employee] Jets Jake.’

In response to the producer whose fiancé was handling all the prep, Travis joked: ‘I’m proud of you. Because you don’t matter, Jake… You don’t matter and none of your decisions should be made by you.’ ‘Just keep asking her what she wants.’
