Kyle Sandilands has backed Anthony Albanese’s Stage Three tax cuts backflip despite being among the Aussies set to lose more because of the changes.
The multi-millionaire KIIS broadcaster told the Prime Minister, who was appearing on the Kyle & Jackie O show, that he has no problem paying tax.
‘The more you earn… the more tax you should pay,’ Sandilands said on Tuesday.
‘I don’t mind (paying tax). I think paying your fair share, that’s fine. I don’t actually mind tax.’
Under the changes, a person earning an average wage of $73,000 will get a tax cut of more than $1,500 a year. Those earning $50,000 will pocket an extra $929 a year while people on $100,000 will receive $2,100.
Households on an average income of $130,000 will receive $2,600. At the upper end, the Stage Three tax cuts for those earning $200,000 will be slashed from $9,075 to $4,500.
Sandilands lives in the exclusive Sydney suburb of Vaucluse, where the median house price is $9million. He is among the Australians whose tax cuts will be slashed drastically because of Mr Albanese’s changes.

‘What we’re doing is looking at how we can help low and middle-income earners,’ Mr Albanese said.
‘Middle Australia particularly is doing it really tough. People have a mortgage so we’re looking at ways in which we can provide assistance to them.’
After Mr Albanese said ‘everyone will be getting a tax cut’, an excited Sandilands said ‘Me too? Will I get one?’
‘You will always be looked after, Kyle, because I know that you’re struggling,’ the Prime Minister joked.
‘People laugh but I am in the highest tax bracket there is – the highest,’ Sandilands said.
‘That’s because you’re one of the highest earners, Kyle. That’s a good thing,’ Mr Albanese said with a laugh.
He pointed out other ways the Labor government has tried to help with the cost-of-living crisis in Australia.
‘We did that last year with a range of measures. People are benefiting from cheaper medicines, cheaper childcare, the energy price relief plan, but we’re looking at other ways as well,’ Mr Albanese said.
Sandilands then revealed he had ‘come up with an idea’ on how to help the cost-of-living pressure.
‘How about a gap year for all bills, for all citizens? One whole year,’ he said.
Sandilands later doubled down on his support for Mr Albanese’s backflip on the Stage Three tax cuts in an interview with news.com.au.
‘I think the more you earn, it is natural the more tax you should pay,’ he said.

‘That might not be popular at the high end of town, but this is the way the world goes around.’
He said his accountant always tells him to pay his tax to avoid getting into any trouble.
‘No one likes tax, but you got to do it. That is the society we live in, and it is why Australia is great country,’ Sandilands said.
Mr Albanese will announce more details of the Stage Three tax cut changes in a speech to the National Press Club in Canberra on Thursday.
