Country music star Chris Young’s lawyer is asking Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) to drop charges against the singer, after he was arrested at a Nashville bar on Monday.
Young, 38, was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest after confronting alcohol enforcement agents and ‘striking’ an officer during a confrontation at DawgHouse Saloon, police say.
However, in a video of the altercation, shared by People on Tuesday, Young is pictured being shoved by a TABC agent before being taken into custody.
And now the star’s attorney, Bill Ramsey, is asking for an apology and for charges against Young to be dropped.
‘What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong and he never should have been arrested and charged in the first place,’ he told DailyMail.com on Wednesday.

‘In light of the video evidence, Tennessee ABC needs to drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional and professional harm done towards my client.’
In the footage from the bar, Young is seen reaching towards the TABC agent, who then shoves him, causing him to fall backwards over a table and chair.
The singer then stands up, puts his hands up and moves back.
He was arrested shortly after the incident.
The events leading up to the arrest started at around 8:30 pm, when the agents from the Alcoholic Beverage Commission were completing a compliance check at Tin Roof – a bar on Demonbreun Street in Midtown Nashville – and encountered the singer.
After checking his identification, Young – who is known for a series of No. 1 hits and winning the reality show Nashville Star – allegedly followed the agents and asked them questions before recording them with his camera.
When the officers went to the next bar, Dawg House, to continue their identification checks – Young followed them with his group of people when the alleged confrontation ensued.
The star then attempted to prevent the agents from leaving by sticking out his hand and allegedly ‘striking’ one of the officers, according to the affidavit.

‘While walking out the door Mr. Young put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and struck me on the shoulder,’ the affidavit said.
‘I then pushed Mr. Young to create distance since I had no idea of who Mr. Young was or what he had.’
Young reportedly began walking backward and refusing to comply with the officers – which resulted in him being handcuffed.
The affidavit claims the country singer was slurring his words while his eyes were bloodshot and watery.
After Young’s disorderly behavior at the bar the atmosphere turned ‘hostile,’ the report said.
The country star had performed at another bar in Nashville – the Bootleggers Inn – on Friday, January 19.
He later uploaded a video to TikTok of his performance at the nightlife establishment.
