But now Justin and his wife Hailey Bieber are ‘in a much better place’ following the release of the pop singer’s latest album, according to Us Weekly.
A source told the site that the alleged strain stemmed from Justin’s efforts recording Swag – however with the album now out, the ‘tension has settled.’
‘The intense focus and emotional toll of creating new music had put a strain on their marriage,’ the insider told the site. ‘When Justin is in the studio making new music, he gets completely consumed and shuts everything else out.’
Ever since Swag was released on July 11, the couple’s relationship has experienced improvement, according to Us.
Hailey, 28, and Justin, 31, ‘have been able to finally reconnect more’ during a trip to Idaho with their nearly one-year-old son Jack Blues, according to the source.

‘There’s a sense of relief on both sides,’ the insider said, adding Justin has been ‘in a better mental headspace’ as of late and has been ‘very happy’ over the positive reception to his album.
The source also said that Hailey has been approaching things ‘day by day’ and has been ‘very patient’ with her spouse.
‘There’s still work to be done in their marriage,’ the insider told Us, ‘but they’re in a much better place.’
Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Justin and Hailey about the Us Weekly report but did not immediately hear back.
Justin’s surprise seventh studio album, SWAG, was released to critical acclaim on July 11.

In track 10 of the 21-song track list, titled Walking Away, Justin sings about the couple ‘taking a break’ and ‘testing patience.’

‘Girl, we better stop before we say some s*** / We’ve been testing our patience / I think we better off if we just take a break,’ he continues.

But the chorus and subsequent verses paint a picture of their enduring love despite strife.
‘Baby, I ain’t walking away / You were my diamond / Gave you a ring / I made you a promise / I told you, I’d change / It’s just human nature / These growing pains / And baby, I ain’t walking away,’ he sings in the chorus.
Ahead of the album’s release, Hailey had some choice words for their fans as she took to social media to promote it.
She took aim at the ‘losers’ who’ve speculated about their relationship as she re-posted a photo of Justin’s massive Swag billboard in NYC’s Times Square, captioned: ‘Is it finally clocking to you f***ing losers?’
