Marriage Crumbles Before Move: Fund Manager’s Daughter Dates Nightmare, Dina Finds Mr. Right – THE GROUP CHAT

Game of love

Ah, the society debutante and the bad boy – a tale as old as time, and one daddy surely wouldn’t approve of.

The latest case in point is Emma Pillemer – the 24-year-old jewellery designer and globe-trotting daughter of top Sydney funds manager Russel Pillemer.

Daily Mail readers will know the bubbly TikTok star for her popular label Emma Pills, which sells as range of trendy, affordable accessories.

But when she’s not flogging trinkets, she’s partying in Los Angeles, where she is considered something of an ‘It’ girl.

And her adventures in La La Land have brought her into the orbit of young men who probably wouldn’t get a warm reception at The Royal Sydney Golf Club.

After previously being linked to controversial YouTuber David Dobrik – they always said they were just friends – Emma has now been pictured cosying up to FaZe Banks.

Banks, whose real name is Richard ‘Ricky’ Bengtson, is an influential figure in the world of streaming, competitive gaming and YouTube.

He rose to fame recording himself playing Call of Duty (whatever happened to girls chasing after footballers?) and eventually co-founded the professional esports and entertainment brand FaZe Clan which, I’m assured, is a big deal if you’re into gaming.

But it wouldn’t be a Gen Z success story without a cryptocurrency controversy.

Last month, Banks stepped down as FaZe Clan CEO after he was involved in promoting a much-hyped meme coin that left some investors short-changed when it spiked in value then crashed.

Banks, for his part, stated he ‘never scammed anyone’ and also insisted he didn’t sell his own tokens. But he resigned as boss of FaZe Clan, issuing a statement saying, ‘I wish I could say I’ll be back… don’t know if I will.’

Well, like most young people who vow to stay off social media, he was soon back – and he marked his return with a flirty selfie featuring Emma in a low-cut dress, which many fans viewed as a ‘hard launch’.

Emma, known for her starring role in reality TV show Made in Bondi, is fast making a name for herself in business and social circles on both sides of the Pacific.

She graduated from the $45,000-per-year Moriah College in 2020, but instead of taking time off before uni to travel, knuckled down and founded her jewellery brand.

Emma’s father co-founded ASX-listed funds management group Pengana with former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull in 2003. He still serves as the CEO of the company.

What Daddy Pills thinks of his daughter hanging out with a neck-tatted American streamer with a bad-boy reputation remains to be seen.

Dina gets serious with an old flame

It seems every week we’re reporting on Dina Broadhurst finding a new man.

But a recent trip to the snow indicates the so-called ‘nude artist’ of the eastern suburbs may have finally settled down with one of favourite exes.

We noted with interest that Dina was joined by her on-again-off-again flame John ‘Herman’ Winning Jr. during a ski holiday at Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains.

This, in itself, wasn’t entirely unusual. Ever since their break-up last year, they’ve been seen together on several occasions, including overseas jaunts.

But what makes the Thredbo trip unique is that sources tell us Dina’s teenage son joined them – which suggests things are more serious between the old flames than we once thought.

A quick recap of their romance: they began dating in March last year, but split in late November – on the morning of Bernadette Fahey and Jordan Sukkar‘s wedding.

The two were expected to attend the Scots College nuptials as a couple, but when Dina rocked up solo in a jaw-dropping ‘revenge dress’, guests knew something was amiss.

After briefly toying with a reunion – while Dina slipped away to Paris for a fling with a 23-year-old Belgian model – the pair now appear to be playing happy families.

Herman is the son of appliances mogul John Winning Sr. and his family is worth an estimated $700million.

The accomplished sailor took over as CEO of Winning Appliances in 2011 at the age of 22 and steered the business in a new direction with Appliances Online, which is now Australia’s largest online retailer for appliances.

Before John, Dina was in a relationship with developer Max Shepherd, but it emerged in June 2023 they had split after four and a half years together.

Following that break-up, she was briefly linked to property investor Tony Benjamin.

Guess who, don’t sue

Now here’s a story we put a fair bit of effort into this week, only to have the rug pulled out from under us. So here’s the CliffsNotes version, with the names taken out.

A few days ago, we had a tip from a rock-solid source that the heir to an Aussie fortune had split from their spouse ahead of a long-planned overseas move.

This couple had made no secret of their plans for an idyllic expat life, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

When we reached out for comment, one half of the couple issued a clear, curt denial. The rumour, they said, was simply false.

Our insider, however, insists the wheels have come off the marriage – ‘everyone’s talking about it’ – and says the move isn’t happening.

Is it a case of no smoke without fire? We’ll keep you updated.
