Princess Diana went from being a Lady to a Princess, but Emma Corrin, who played her in The Crown, insists on an even rarer title.
I hear that the star has let it be known that Emma henceforth wants to be referred to as Mx Corrin rather than Miss or Ms, as some feminists used to prefer.
‘It’s part of a new identification of non-binary,’ a friend explains.
Mx was developed as an alternative to ‘gendered’ honorifics such as Mr and Miss in the late 1970s and is said to be the most common gender-neutral title among people who identify as non-binary.
In a formal confirmation of Corrin’s wishes, Companies House published an update to the actor’s details this week.
It reported that the director of Playroom Pictures, the business used to channel Corrin’s earnings, is now Mx instead of Miss.

Corrin used a topless photo shoot in 2021 to come out as ‘non-binary’ and updated the gender profile on picture-sharing website Instagram to use the pronouns ‘they/them’. ‘It’s all a journey, right,’ Corrin said. ‘Lots of twists and turns and change and that’s ok! Embrace it.’
Corrin follows in the footsteps of pop singers Sam Smith and Demi Lovato, who previously announced their pronouns had become ‘they’.
Corrin, who starred in Lady Chatterley’s Lover as well as winning a Golden Globe for the portrayal of Diana in Netflix’s royal drama, also spoke about wearing a chest binder.
Chest binding is common among people who want to give the appearance of a flatter chest. Corrin didn’t give a reason for choosing to wear one.
Zara warms to polo hot shot Nacho
Each January, Zara Tindall escapes the cold by travelling Down Under for a lucrative appearance at the Magic Millions horse race meeting and auctions.
And this year the Olympic medal-winner, 42, was joined on the Gold Coast by Hollywood star Elsa Pataky, 47, wife of Australian heart-throb Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.
However, Princess Anne’s daughter seemed far more thrilled to meet dashing polo player Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Figueras, 46, a close friend of her cousin Prince Harry.
Zara is an ambassador for the Magic Millions equine auction house.
She has travelled to the event most years since 2013 and has previously said she loves going to Australia in winter because Britain is ‘bleak in January’. She’s not wrong…

Eco Ellie jets off on her hols
Having used her guest editorship of Radio 4’s Today programme to preach about the environment, Ellie Goulding has rewarded herself with a long-haul holiday.
The singer, 37, has flown 5,000 miles to Costa Rica with Ford Models heiress Alessandra Balazs, 34, and actress Emily Wickersham, 39. ‘Pura Vida [Pure Life],’ she wrote online alongside this snap of the trio.
Ellie, a UN environment ambassador, says: ‘A lot of green people have to be hypocritical because we do not live in a world where people can be completely and utterly green and guiltless.’

Camilla is Rebus writer’s royal fan
Before he was knighted last year, crime author Sir Ian Rankin admitted he was ‘hugely disappointed’ that it wouldn’t be Queen Elizabeth who carried out his investiture.
She had died three months after he was included in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Queen Camilla has, however, provided some consolation for the Inspector Rebus novelist — by inviting him on to the debut edition of her podcast, The Queen’s Reading Room, to talk about his life and career.
Former Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell is getting revved up about plans to turn England’s oldest petrol station into a house.
The owners of grade II-listed Glendore, in the Golden Valley village of Turnastone, Herefordshire, applied for planning permission last November. It was first used as a filling station in 1919 and its period pumps still stand in the front garden.
‘England’s oldest surviving petrol station should be preserved as just that. It should be a museum.
‘Where’s the imagination? Not a home, please. Madness,’ honks Needell.
Angela Rippon’s high-kicking turn on Strictly Come Dancing at the age of 79 has given hope to Absolutely Fabulous star Harriet Thorpe. Speaking of the BBC show’s producers, the 66-year-old actress says: ‘It’s up to them. Of course I’d like to do Strictly. I can do the splits, and I did them a couple of weeks ago.’ Asked if she needs to warm up beforehand, Thorpe, who played Fleur in Ab Fab, replies: ‘No, dear, because I grew up in the Eighties.’
