But now, actress Lucy-Jo Hudson – who played Katy Harris on the soap – has made a surprise career change and has launched a travel agency to keep herself afloat.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Lucy-Jo, 40, explained to her almost 200,000 followers why she’s had to take a regular job, with reasons many stars can relate to.
She said in a Story: ‘In my industry, it’s not easy. I could audition for 8 jobs and get none, yet I could fall into a job next week, or I might not work for 6 months!
‘It’s not easy but I continue to push as I love nothing more than acting! But while I’m in limbo, I have decided I need a side hustle.

Lucy-Jo played Katy from 2002 to 2005. Her storylines included being victimised by a gang and struggling with diabetes.
She also had a relationship with the much-older Martin Platt, ex-husband of Gail Platt and father to David and Sarah Platt.
Her exit storyline, which saw her kill her father, unborn baby, then herself, sent shockwaves across the soap world and lander her the moniker ‘Killer Katy’.
Lucy-Jo has also starred in Wild At Heart and Casualty.
She was married to her Coronation Street co-star Alan Halsall, who still plays Tyrone Dobbs in the soap, from 2009 to 2018. They share daughter Sienna, 10.
The actress is currently dating theatre company owner Lewis Devine, and the two have son Carter, three, together who they recently had to rush to hospital.

Outside of Corrie, Lucy-Jo is best known for her role Donna-Marie Quinn in Hollyoaks, from 2018 to 2022.
In 2016, Lucy-Jo appeared in now-cancelled Doctors, and received the British Soap Award for Villian Of The Year.
Lucy-Jo appeared in reality dance competition Dance Dance Dance with four other celebrities in 2017.
The programme was presented by Alesha Dixon and Will Best and among the judges was Ashley Banjo. Lucy-Jo finished in second place.
