The Traitors viewers couldn’t contain their delight during Thursday’s episode as fan favourite Diane Carson survived the dreaded first murder of the series.
The retired teacher has already earned an army of fans with her no-nonsense take on the other Faithfuls.
While Diane did cause some debate among The Traitors, she wasn’t claimed as their first victim, with Ash Bibi, Paul Gorton, Miles Asteri and Harry Clark instead choosing to eliminate Aubrey Emerson.
Viewers rejoiced as Diane made her way into breakfast the next morning, with one quickly declaring she was determined to ‘avenge Aubrey’s death.’
One tweeted: ‘Thank god Diane survived, she’s too much of a Queen to leave just yet,’ while another added: ‘Me seeing that Diane is safe but we lose Aubrey.’

A viewer declared: ‘DIANE NOT MURDERED WE WON OMG,’ while one added: ‘Diane ready to avenge Aubrey’s death.’
Thursday’s episode revealed that Aubrey Emerson was the first victim claimed by the four Traitors after they noted he already ‘had his suspicions’ around who could be hiding in one of the sinister cloaks.
The second episode, which aired on Thursday night, also revealed that Miles Asteri was chosen as the fourth Traitor, joining forces with the group to decide which contestant they wanted to murder.
While the group debated choosing Diane Carson or Sonja, they eventually opted to choose Aubre.
Miles noted: ‘Aubrey watches from a distance, he’s been in the gameplan since day one,’ with Harry agreeing: ‘This what we don’t want is the separate groups.’
‘The message that we should try and send is no one’s safe. I don’t think anyone would suspect us to say Aubrey, throws him off our scent.’
Upon receiving the letter learning he’d been murdered, Aubrey said: ‘I think I’ve been murdered because I’m too observant, I was a threat to The Traitors and they could see that. I say what I see, they’ve made a big mistake.’
It comes after the opening episode pulled in an impressive 3.1million viewers as it returned to the BBC on Wednesday night.

The show which aired from 9pm-10pm peaked with around 3.1million watching, according to data supplied by overnights.tv.
The numbers will likely shoot up further on iPlayer over the coming days as many that would have been watching live could have instead been tuned into the PDC World Darts Championship featuring phenomenon Luke Littler.
It is a significant increase on the numbers watching last year’s opening episode, which hit 2.9million viewers.
Series two’s opening episode was also second highest overnight rating yet for the show overall – only slightly less than the series one final.
That final was watched by 3.3million as the show came to a dramatic conclusion.
The hotly-anticipated series returned to screens on Wednesday night with Claudia Winkleman as host for a second series.
Already fans were left in turmoil after having to choose what to watch between The Traitors and the World Darts Championship final.
The Traitors continues on Friday at 9pm on BBC One. The third episode is already available to view on BBC iPlayer.
