The Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner is letting his fiancée Theresa Nist and his future daughter-in-law take over planning their televised nuptials – dubbed The Golden Wedding – which airs this Thursday night on ABC.
‘It’s going to be spectacular!’ the 72-year-old groom told People on Tuesday.
‘I can just hear the joy in her voice when I talk to her and she’s talking about whether it’s a dress or a cake or flowers or whatever it is. It makes me so happy that she’s having this much of a good time with it. It’s like, what could be more fun?’
The 70-year-old bride called her daughter/maid of honor Jen Woolston – whose birthday is this Thursday – ‘a lifesaver’ who ‘put together the vision board’ and by mid-December there were ‘very few decisions left to be made.’
‘She fell in love with Gerry,’ Theresa gushed.

‘She just keeps feeding me [samples of] great things and I’m saying, “Yeah, that, that, that.” Seriously – I don’t know if there would be a wedding if she wasn’t involved.’
Nists’ sons will be Gerry’s best men, Henry (one of her six grandsons) will be the ring bearer, and her sisters will be the flower girls.
‘They’re older,’ the New Jersey-based financial services professional noted. ‘They should be thrilled with that.’
Turner added that his two daughters and two granddaughters will also be ‘involved’ in their special day.
‘There’s a spot for every family member in the wedding party,’ the former hot tub installer and maintenance man assured.
‘We wouldn’t have it any other way.’
Gerry eliminated 21 contestants and popped the question to Theresa with a $40K Neil Lane diamond sparkler sometime in mid-August, and the grieving widowers eventually plan on moving to Charleston, SC together.
Turner was originally described as a retired restaurateur, but he reportedly sold his only Mr. Quick hamburger drive-in franchise way back in 1985.

Bachelor Nation fans are some of the most passionate and devoted, despite the horrible track record for couples remaining together on the various shows.
Out of the 27 prior seasons of The Bachelor, only three couples are still together – Sean & Catherine Lowe, Matt James & Rachael Kirkconnell, and Zach Shallcross & Kaity Biggar.
Out of 20 seasons of The Bachelorette, five couples remain together – most notably Ryan and Trista Sutter, who share three children.
Surprisingly, Bachelor in Paradise is the most successful franchise with 10 couples remaining together after nine seasons.
