Alan Carr has opened up about being fat shamed by a personal trainer.
The television icon said he felt ‘triggered’ after he was called ‘fatty’ by a female personal trainer at his gym.
The star, 47, discussed the incident on his podcast Life’s A Beach, as he recounted: ‘I went to quite a famous one and I didn’t like the way she talked to me.’
Alan explained that he thinks someone else at the gym gave her a warning over her language after she told him to ‘Come on fatty!’.
The next time the star went she had changed her tone and said: ‘Oh, you know Alan have a breather if you want.’

Alan explained that he think’s someone at the gym gave her a warning over her language after she told him to ‘Come on fatty!’
He explained: ‘It was triggering. It was like I was back in the playground.
‘People don’t believe I have a personal trainer because I’m fat.’
Alan previously revealed in 2020 that he was taking inspiration from his best pal Adele‘s incredible seven stone weight loss and had kick started a diet of his own.
The TV funnyman said at the time that he was now on a 1,000 calories per day diet after seeing the results of the Someone Like You singers transformation.
Alan gushed that Adele is looking ‘great’ following her recent weight loss, which was first revealed during a holiday with her friends Harry Styles and James Corden.
Yet in 2021, the comedian confessed he let himself go during lockdown and gained three stone by eating too much banana bread.
He admitted to gaining so much weight, he was getting too fat to even fit into his coats.
Speaking to Heat Magazine about life during lockdown, Alan said: ‘The first time I was like “On my god I can just stay home and eat, eat, eat”.
He explained: ‘It was triggering. It was like I was back in the playground’
He added: ‘People don’t believe I have a personal trainer because I’m fat’
‘I made all the banana bread, I was getting really fat and was like “Ha ha no one can see me”. I got into Netflix, read all my books, had my jigsaw puzzles.
Then lockdown two, I suddenly became a key worker because I leave the house for work and I was like, “S**t! I need to lose two stone overnight”.’
The television presenter says he was forced to start a health kick after it got to the point where he was having trouble fitting into his anorak.
‘For lockdown three, I’m losing weight and I’m not going to eat banana bread and I’m going to do one bit of walking a day,’ he said.
‘I was shocked you could do one bit of exercise. I was like “Damn!” I mean, it’s getting to the point I don’t even fit in coats anymore – my anorak looks like a crop top.’
He told The Mirror: ‘I did put on a lot of lockdown weight. People will think, ‘What the hell has he eaten because he has ballooned!’
‘I have been eating any old s**t. I think I have put on about three stone. You see skinny people on Instagram and they only have a slice of banana bread but I was eating the whole lot.’
