‘It boggles my mind that I’ve stayed relevant and that people are curious,’ she admitted of her music to Bustle in July. ‘Because I have not entertained. I have not entertained at all.’
Her career initially kicked off in 1999 with the debut album Sweet Kisses, which featured her debut hit single I Wanna Love You Forever.
It also featured the duet Where You Are with her boyfriend at the time, Nick Lachey.
In 2002, the couple exchanged vows and subsequently appeared as a pair on the popular MTV show Newlyweds before splitting in 2006.
She released Irresistible in 2001 and another studio album In This Skin in 2003.
The Dukes of Hazzard alum then unveiled five more studio albums before experiencing a decline around 2010.
Despite the success of her 2008 country album, Do You Know, her record label also opted to part ways with her.
‘You’ll never recoup the amount of money we’ve put into you,’ she remembers being told, per Bustle.

Jessica has not produced a new album in over a decade, since the release of her 2010 record Happy Christmas
‘It wasn’t my choice to have Scott Storch or all these producers that [cost] a million dollars a track,’ she added. ‘I didn’t control those budgets. We were just yes-people. And in saying yes to everything, I lost it all.”‘
She also noted that her children Maxi, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, five — whom she shares with husband Eric Johnson — have ‘never seen’ their mother perform live.
Her last album was Happy Christmas, a holiday record released in November 2010.
