Heartbreak High star Chloé Hayden has opened up about her decision to step back from social media after receiving online threats.

Chloé, 26, revealed last month to her Instagram followers that her management would be taking over her social accounts due to severe online harassment.

‘It’s been really nice to be able to step back and it’s been really nice to be able to access social media on my terms in ways that are safe for me,’ the actress told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday night.

‘I still love social media, it’s where I started as a career and I still love it. I have the most beautiful followers and people that follow me.

‘So being able to still be able to connect with them in a way that I am safe [has] been a really really positive change.’

Chloé also touched on the darker side of social media and lamented the troubling trend of online trolling.

She cited ‘trends of people just being mean to each other for no reason,’ as being particularly troubling.

‘Like people just like, being awful to another person because of what they look like or who they are or their neurotype or their disability. I’m like, for what? What’s the reason? That’s the worst trend I’ve seen this year.’

Despite the turmoil, Chloé is excitedly looking forward to her wedding to her fiancé Dylan Rohan, which is just three weeks away.

She admitted to being a bit behind on the planning, saying, ‘the wedding’s in three weeks, so we probably should have planned more than what we currently have, but we’re definitely on the way.’

‘I’m so bad at planning… but I’ve got the most incredible team that are planning it for me. So, it’s taken a lot of stress off and I’m really excited about it.’

When asked about the possibility of becoming a bridezilla, Chloé laughed it off.

‘I don’t think so. I hope I’m pretty chill, because I’m kinda like, “what will be, will be”. Um, but I don’t know, maybe if you catch me on a bad day then maybe.’

As for her their honeymoon plans, Chloé revealed that she was excited to be going on her first trip to Japan.

‘I’ve got a lot of acting work coming up and stuff like that so we’re just trying to figure out a time when we actually can do it,’ she said.

‘I’ve wanted to go to Japan my whole life so that’s what our honeymoon’s gonna be.’
