As Taylor Swift announced the news that she will be dropping her 12th studio album later this year, fans have suspected she is teasing something much bigger.
The 14-time Grammy Award-winning singer, 35, confirmed that the album, The Life Of A Showgirl, will be released on October 3 — just over a year and a half after the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
But Swift fans believe she is also soft launching the idea that she will perform during the next Super Bowl’s halftime show.
Taylor first dropped the news about her 12th studio album earlier this week while teasing her upcoming appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast.
And on Wednesday, just as her New Heights episode premiered, the Red singer revealed the official album cover for The Life Of A Showgirl.
The award-winning singer is known for putting an incredible amount of thought into every outfit, post, and music video.

And Swifties think the album, which is orange colour themed, is a nod towards the Kansas City Chiefs colours, who won the Super Bowl in 2024 and have Travis Kelce, 35, Taylor’s boyfriend, playing for them.
Another reason as to why they’re suspecting a Super Bowl announcement is because in Kelce’s recent GQ interview, he describes Taylor as an ‘athlete’.
Speaking about her performances, he said: ‘I hadn’t experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, the ups and downs of being in front of millions. That was very relatable, seeing how exhausted she would get after shows. She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I’ve seen what she goes through. I’ve seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it’s mind-blowing.’
Next, to announce her new album, Taylor appeared on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast which is usually solely about American football.
During the episode she delighted fans by sharing the ‘wild’ and ‘romantic’ details of how her love story with Kelce began.
The sweet appearance also featured plenty of PDA, including Travis kissing Taylor’s hand and gushing that he was ‘the luckiest man in the world.’ Taylor also broke down in tears later in the show while speaking about reclaiming her masters.
At another point Travis gushed that Taylor makes him ‘so much better.’
Travis also shared his gratitude for the Eras tour and how it helped him meet the singer, saying he had been ‘mesmerized’ and ‘captivated’ by her, and left the tour with ‘such a desire to want to meet [Taylor].’

‘You see you on stage, and you see how crazy you can get an entire stadium going, and I get you in a room and it’s like I’ve known you forever, it was just the easiest conversation I’ve ever had, and it was so much fun it just knocked my socks off.’

Travis sweetly added, ‘I have never experienced something so mesmerizing on stage, and so real and so beautiful in person.’
Another reason as to why fans are suspect of a performance at the game next year is that during the podcast episode, Travis has placed a Super Bowl trophy behind the couple.
For the new episode, the background of book shelves filled with memorabilia, had been changed.
And the final reason fans think Taylor will be the next Super Bowl performer is because she has previously said she wouldn’t accept the gig, until she finished re-recording her first six albums.
This summer, to regain control of her master recordings after they were sold to Scooter Braun and Shamrock Holdings, Taylor re-recorded her first six albums.
On New Heights she broke down in tears as she opened up on how she fought for years to reclaim the masters of her music.
With over a million fans tuning in for the live stream, she explained how Kelce was playing video games when she found out she had bought the rights back but the NFL star even started weeping when he was told the news. Swift had sent her mother and brother to Los Angeles to negotiate with Shamrock Capital, the owners, on her behalf.
‘I haven’t gotten my hopes up about this in a decade,’ she said
‘A couple months after the Super Bowl I was in Kansas City,’ Swift said, adding she had been saving to buy her masters since she was a teenager. ‘I get a call from my mom. She’s like, “You got your music.” I very dramatically hit the floor for real. Bawling my eyes out, weeping, like “Really?” I said to myself “Go tell Travis in a normal way.”
‘He was playing video games, and he put his headset down. I was like “I got my music back!” And I was heaving crying. This changed my life.’
