Kanye West’s wife Bianca Censori reveals another unexpected talent after Korean art installation

Kanye West’s wife Bianca Censori has become notorious for her fashion statements, but few knew she had any musical talent — until now.

The 31-year-old Aussie architect shared a video to Instagram Stories on Friday, January 16 of her playing the handpan, also known as a hand drum.

Censori wore black leggings and a black crisscross halter top that showed off her shoulders and toned arms as she sat on the floor cross-legged and beat out a soothing tune on the instrument.

The UFO-shaped convex steel percussion instrument, which was invented in Switzerland, features various tone fields on top, surrounding a central note. It’s played with the hands to elicit magical, ethereal sounds.

West’s wife — who recently raised eyebrows with her art installation in Seoul, South Korea — wore a vacant expression beneath the tendrils of her curling dark hair.

She said nothing and left out a caption, but occasionally she would glance at the camera’s eye and around the room of what appeared to be the couple’s contemporary-style home.

Censori didn’t clue her followers in on the tune’s name either. Her hands just kept moving around the drum, beating the haunting melody.

Most fans responded with surprise and enthusiasm after watching Censori’s video, which was also shared on X.

‘Ok I keep playing this and something about it is actually so soothing. It doesn’t sound like she’s just messing around or practicing, she knows the notes she’s playing. I think she’s doing intentional frequency,’ one commented on the social network.

‘I understand why ye loves her now,’ another wrote, while a third chimed in, ‘a multi talented queen she is’ alongside a flame emoji.

In December, Censori shocked with her performance art installation BIO POP (THE ORIGIN) in Seoul, South Korea, which featured mannequins of women twisted into various shapes while constrained in pieces of furniture.

The performance art included Censori strutting onto the scene in a body-hugging burgundy-red catsuit, baking a cake and then wheeling it around on a trolley amid the female contortionists who were made to look like her.

Censori’s website says BIO POP is a ‘self-portrait in constraint. Positions learned in private are worn in public. It is the first reliquary, holding rituals and heirlooms, inscribing both body and spirit with its codes. The domestic, turned uncanny, becomes the womb of the system – the site where intimacy, confinement, and identity are first inscribed.’

The description goes on to describe the furniture as not ‘passive support’ but ‘an apparatus that moulds the body, turning comfort into confinement and domesticity into architecture. The doubles inside the furniture become extensions of the design, collapsing the distinction between object, body, and idol.’

The exhibition won the praise of her rap artist husband, who shared a series of images of the show to Instagram alongside the caption: ‘So proud of my wife.’

West included a link to an article that characterized Censori’s exhibition as a ‘feminist critique,’ in Architectural Digest Middle East.

His gushing post followed his Christmas reunion with ex-wife Kim Kardashian and their four children, a rare display of unity following years of public tension.

According to TMZ, the former couple put aside their long-running differences to celebrate the holidays as a family, with sources describing the atmosphere as cordial and focused on their children, North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, six.
