The famous Southern California house Will Smith inhabited on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is hitting the market for the first time in nearly a half-century.
The Georgian Colonial home, which is actually located in Brentwood, California, will be placed on the market for the first time since 1978, when it sold for $732,000, an insider told People.
It has been listed at just under $30 million, according to TMZ.
Smith starred on 148 episodes of the show amid its six-year run from 1990–1996. The cast also included Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, and the late James Avery.
The home, which was built in 1937, was used for multiple exterior shots during the six-season run of the popular series.
The five-bedroom, five-bathroom home spans more than 6,000 square feet. The asking price was not immediately clear, according to the outlet.
Smith and the cast did not film the entirety of the series on the premises – but rather on a soundstage – but the house remains an iconic piece of television history, as the NBC show was a pivotal step in launching Smith’s A-list career.

In a promotion for the show’s 20th anniversary, the home was made available to rent in 2020 via Airbnb.
Smith participated as a virtual host for renters, amid height of the Covid pandemic.
The promotion of the home rental, which came in October 2020, was exclusive to Los Angeles County residents.
‘If this place looks familiar that’s because it’s just as fly as it was when I first rolled up the driveway,’ the Oscar-winning actor said in an ad for the promotion.
Smith made numerous references to his character on the series (also named Will Smith) in a commercial for Airbnb.
‘I’m handing you the keys so you’ll have my wing of the mansion all to yourself; but my sneaker collection is off limits, alright?’ he said.
Smith said at the time, ‘Some may say I’ve done it all, but I’ve never opened the doors to a wing of the iconic mansion that helped launch my career.’

He added, ‘It holds a lot of special memories for me and my friends, and I hope you’ll leave with memories (and a dope handshake!) to last you well beyond your stay.’
As part of the promotion, people were able to indulge in other show-related activities.
Activities included games of bedroom basketball; spending time by the pool; and trying on Nike Air Jordans popularized during the time – scored to the sound of ‘throwback classics all night on turntables.’
Smith said in 2020, ‘To walk through the door and walk in, it has beautiful nostalgic value.’
This March will mark the fourth anniversary of Smith’s infamous incident at the 2022 Oscars, in which he slapped comedian Chris Rock after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The joke was about her shaved head, saying, ‘Jada, I love you, G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it!’ in a reference to the 1997 movie which featured Demi Moore with a shaved head. (Pinkett Smith has diagnosed with alopecia, which causes hair loss.)
Smith then walked onstage and smacked Rock, then returned to his seat and shouted at him twice, ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!’ to a stunned audience.
Later in the evening – in his acceptance speech after winning the Best Actor Oscar for his role as tennis patriarch Richard Williams in King Richard – Smith apologized to the Academy and other nominees, but made no reference to Rock.
Smith subsequently apologized on multiple occasions over the incident, and resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ahead of being issued a 10-year ban from the Oscars.

In an apology he issued in July of 2022 over the incident in an online clip, Smith said his spouse ‘had nothing to do with’ his attack on Rock.
‘I made a choice on my own from my own experiences, from my history with Chris,’ he said. ‘I want to say sorry to my kids and my family for the heat that I’ve brought on all of us.’
He added: ‘I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk, and when he is he will reach out.
‘So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.’
