Music legend Roger Waters defends harsh Ozzy Osbourne comments following the star’s death after Sharon said he’s ‘not wired right’

Music legend Roger Waters has defended the harsh comments he made about Ozzy Osbourne after his death after Sharon said he’s ‘not wired right’.

The Pink Floyd co-founder, 82, sparked criticism last year when he said he didn’t like Black Sabbath and claimed Ozzy was in a ‘state’ for most of his life.

The comments received wide backlash, with Ozzy’s widow Sharon branding him ‘nuts’ and saying he’s ‘not wired right’.

Now, Roger has doubled down on his comments, saying he ‘doesn’t like people who bite the heads off bats’ and branding Sharon a ‘raging Zionist’.

Confronting Roger on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Piers began: ‘So I do want to end with something which was quite personal to me, because it involved a friend of mine, which was after Ozzy Osbourne, your fellow rock star…’

But Roger hit back, interjecting with ‘Oh shut up!’ before calling Ozzy’s widow Sharon ‘Karen’.

The Pink Floyd musician added: ‘Well, I mean, do I have to like every rock group there ever was?’

‘Did you have to trash him in such a personal way so soon after he had died?’ Piers asked, before suggesting playing a clip of Sharon Osbourne addressing the comments on his show last year.

But Roger replied: ‘Oh, I’ve seen it. No, I don’t want to see it. I’m not interested.’

Pressed on whether he would apologise for any hurt he had caused Sharon, Roger said: ‘Of course I will, not that I have any time for Sharon, she is a raging Zionist…

‘She’s accused me of all kinds of things because she is part of the Israeli lobby.’

He concluded: ‘Jack, if he wants to have a chat, I’ll have a chat, and I won’t be nasty to him. Well, I’m, you know, yeah, I’m sorry you lost your dad, Jack, but this is like, you have conversations about things and about people, what do you think?

‘Well, not a lot. I was honest. I said I didn’t like Black Sabbath… I don’t like people who bite the heads off bats. I just don’t. I think it’s disgusting, and I’ve said that again now.

‘I know he’s dead, and he can’t come back and go, “Yeah, I’m sorry I bit the heads off bats,” if he ever did. Who knows whether he did or not? I don’t want to talk about it.’

Roger sparked fury from the Osbourne family when he admitted he wasn’t a fan of the rocker or any of his band’s material.

He said at the time: ‘Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in his whatever that state that he was in his whole life.’

He continued to The Independent Ink: ‘We’ll never know. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a f***.’

Roger concluded: ‘I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did. Have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.’

Ozzy’s widow Sharon later addressed his comments in her first television interview after his death.

Speaking to Piers Morgan on his show Uncensored in December, she said: ‘You know, he was great, but his greatness didn’t last. He couldn’t do any great music on his own.

‘He’s a has-been… Oh, my God, he’s definitely not wired right. Five wives later, and, you know, hates everybody that’s successful, and he’s stomping around in his pathetic, homemade Nazi outfit.

‘He’s just, he’s nuts. I was going to send him one of my Tiffany boxes, but I will save it… You know, it’s a waste because he’s really insignificant. But I just thought, with anybody that passes that has a family, you don’t do that.’

Roger allegedly sang that his agent was a ‘f***ing Jew’ in an improvised song, and appeared to dress as a Nazi at a Berlin gig in May last year.

The singer then released a statement denying that he harboured anti-semitic beliefs.

Meanwhile, Ozzy’s son Jack branded Roger a ‘c**t’ to his 1.3million followers on Instagram after the musician’s remarks about his father.

Writing on his Instagram Stories, he said: ‘Hey @rogerwaters. F*** You. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become.

‘The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bulls*** in the press,’ he wrote to his followers.

‘My father always thought you were a c**t – thanks for proving him right. [clown emoji].’ In a second Instagram Story, Jack added the hashtag: ‘#f***rogerwaters’.
