Sara Foster recalls being ‘offended’ by Cindy Crawford setting her up on ‘blah’ date with ‘old’ George Clooney

Nepo baby Sara Foster claimed she was once set up on a disastrous date with George Clooney. 

The 44-year-old daughter of legendary composer and music mogul David Foster opened up to her sister Erin on The World’s First Podcast about how Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber reportedly tried to play matchmaker. 

‘I got set up with George Clooney, like, 30 years ago. It was such a blah. Sorry, had to say it,’ Foster claimed. 

She said the attempt happened when she was around 24, and the four of them actually met in person – but the vibe was immediately off. 

‘It was just such a hard no,’ she said, recalling her first impression. ‘I remember thinking, “Oh, he is so old.”’ 

Daily Mail has reached out to reps for both Clooney and Crawford but has not received a response.

Foster continued by reflecting on age-gap relationships more broadly, explaining that she has never fully understood the appeal. 

‘I always say that when I see these young girls dating older guys. Like, yes, of course, sometimes it makes sense, and it’s all the things,’ she said. 

However, she admitted the dynamic never resonated with her personally. 

‘I’ve never understood a 19-year-old that’s into a 40-year-old. I just always thought that was so weird.’

She went on to say she was ‘offended’ that Crawford and Gerber tried to set her up with Clooney ‘because he felt so old’ to her. 

‘I’m sure George Clooney is a nice guy, but I just remember it being the four of us sitting there and thinking like, “I’m gonna die, like I’m gonna die,”’ Foster said, adding that she was already ‘so sad’ over an ex-boyfriend at the time. 

‘Then, here’s this one who just feels like a grandpa. It was depressing. I was so depressed,’ she continued.

Foster felt there was one more detail worth setting straight about how the date actually went.

‘I also think it wasn’t George being like, “Oh, set me up with Sara Foster.” I think it was more like Rande and Cindy being like, “We know someone great,”’ she said.

She then added how the awkward setup quickly turned emotional and might have given Clooney reason to bail. 

‘I don’t think he was that into it either. I started crying about my ex to him. So I think he was like, “This chick’s not OK,”’ Foster explained with a laugh. 

Foster eventually moved on from both her ex and the brief Clooney encounter, finding a long-term relationship with tennis player Tommy Haas. 

The couple first met in the mid-2000s through mutual friends, quickly becoming inseparable, and even got engaged in 2009, though they never made it down the aisle. 

Foster referred to their partnership as ‘basically married,’ saying they had been together since she was 25 and that their lives were completely intertwined. 

The pair remained focused on co‑parenting their daughters Valentina and Josephine after news broke in August 2024 that they had split.

Meanwhile, Clooney’s romantic history before settling down is well documented. 

The actor was famously linked to a series of high-profile women over the years, including Elisabetta Canalis, Stacy Keibler, Sarah Larson, and several other Hollywood stars.

Known for being private yet charismatic, he cultivated a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors. 

Clooney finally tied the knot with human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, 47, in September 2014. 

The couple share eight-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, and George has often spoken about how meeting Amal completely changed his perspective on life and love.
