Barefoot and dressed only in a small red bikini, a newly slim and makeup-free Amy Schumer looks so happy with herself that her broad smile is visibly straining the tendons in her neck.
Yes, it’s perhaps a little odd that her backdrop is not a sunny beach and instead her Manhattan apartment – at nighttime, no less – but then again, she does have a lot to celebrate.
With the help of weight-loss drugs such as Mounjaro, 44-year-old Schumer has shed 50 lbs in recent months and finally ditched a larger frame that had, for so many years, defined her comedic acting career.
The bikini snap is just one of many Schumer has been sharing to her Instagram of late – most shot in her home and in various revealing outfits.
And they come as she also enters mid-life singledom – having last week officially filed for divorce from chef Chris Fischer, the father of her 6-year-old son Gene.
It seems Schumer has largely remained holed up in her home on New York City’s Upper West Side amid their separation in recent months, punctuating her time, of course, with the glamourous new Instagrams.

The posts, it is worth noting, are often accompanied by misspelled and sometimes bizarre captions. Her announcement of her split from Fischer, 45, back in January began, ‘blah blah blah’.
For her part, Schumer maintains that the decision to separate was not because ‘I dropped some lbs’. But now the Daily Mail has learned that her friends – and Fischer – have taken notice.
‘With the Instagram rants and bathing suit pics, she is obviously craving attention,’ one inside source told Daily Mail.
‘She is taking the struggle [of divorce] head on – but we will probably continue to see more cries for attention.
‘She is trying to deal with the divorce and her new look – but she doesn’t really know what she is doing. It is all still new. Her new body, her new life and her fresh divorce. It’s lot all at once.’
The insider added that Schumer’s behavior isn’t being viewed by friends as ‘a full unwinding’.
‘No one is concerned that she is going to go crazy over it all,’ the insider said, ‘but they’re monitoring her behavior and only want the best for her.’
As for Fischer, the insider said he remains ‘more heartbroken [than Schumer] over the finality of their relationship and the divorce.’
Fischer ‘doesn’t like the attention it is getting’ and is ‘happy that he isn’t a big celebrity himself, because he believes that would make it so much worse,’ the insider added.
‘But it is still a pressure-filled situation with Amy in the public eye – and will be for the foreseeable future – so whatever she gets into or does will likely trickle down to him and their kid,’ the insider said. ‘So, Chris is in a bit of a ‘wait and see’ trajectory, hoping that certain things Amy does won’t affect him, but we’ll see how the world turns in the next few months.’
A second insider said that Schumer and Fischer ‘continue to talk and have seen each other since the breakup.’
‘They are trying to figure out how to move forward while living apart but co-parenting their child and just making this as graceful as possible,’ the second insider added.
‘It is for the best that they are no longer together, but as much as they would like the divorce to be settled quickly, that may be more easily said than done. She is perceived as the breadwinner and may have to give up a lot more.’
As for next steps, the second insider said: ‘Amy has been looking into doing more work this year, including a new special as she has been writing a bunch. Her new material will focus on her marriage ending, and she’s also been looking to get into more TV and films and maybe even write a few books.’

That chimes with another source who told the Daily Mail last month that Schumer’s career ambitions had featured in her decision to leave Fischer.
‘When Trainwreck came out in 2015, she was on fire with her career,’ the source said.
‘Then she got pregnant and did things here and there, but didn’t go full throttle as she would have liked. Now, 10 years on… she’s looking to get that back… With those career goals and her being a mother, she didn’t focus much on her marriage to make that succeed. But that is the life she was chasing, and the life she has chosen to take into the new year.’
Representatives for Schumer and Fischer have been contacted for comment.
The Daily Mail was first to report last November that the married couple of nearly 8 years were facing trouble.
At the time, a close friend confirmed the looming split and said: ‘She got skinny, she is over it.’
Come December, Schumer announced that she and Fischer had come to the ‘difficult decision’ to go their separate ways.
On January 6, Schumer officially filed for divorce in New York.
