Maya Jama says she’s being terrorised by huge bugs as she remains holed up in Cape Town after ITV bosses were forced to postpone Love Island: All Stars launch

Maya Jama said she’s being ‘terrorised by huge bugs’ in an update on Wednesday as she remains holed up in Cape Town.

The Love Island: All Stars host, 31, has had unexpected chill time in South Africa this week after ITV bosses were forced to postpone the Love Island: All Stars launch due to wildfires in the area.

But, it turns out Maya hasn’t had the most relaxing time as she revealed she was forced to sleep on the sofa after a beetle dropped onto her bed in the middle of the night.

Sharing some photos to her Instagram, the TV presenter looked dishevelled as she laughed about the incident.

She wrote: ‘Got bullied by a big back beetle last night (looked like a cockroach but had pincers) who dropped on my bed waking me up.

‘Because it was so heavy it sounded like a mouse landed and then crawled under my bed & continued to sing all night from somewhere behind the curtain.’

Maya added: ‘He won. I slept on the sofa with a blanket over my head.’

Earlier this week, Bikini-clad Maya shared a glimpse at her ‘wholesome’ downtime in Cape Town.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, she shared a snippet of what she’s been up to – as well as showing off her sensational figure in a mirror clip.

Maya displayed her toned stomach in a skimpy black triangle bikini, featuring bejewelled lining, from brand Hunza G.

Elsewhere Maya filmed a video as she strolled through her ‘new home’ Cape Town, revealing she feels like she knows everyone there now as she has been coming back for four years.

‘It’s been four years I’ve been coming here so I do feel a bit like a local. I’ve been strutting around, popping into all the shops and saying, “Hey I’m back,”‘ she said.

Maya shared an update with fans on the dating show on Monday after ITV bosses were forced to postpone Love Island: All Stars’ launch.

Filming for the new series had been due to kick off at the weekend, but these plans have been pushed back after wildfires raged in areas close to the villa.

ITV announced over the weekend that the launch had been postponed, a statement shared on Instagram on Monday night said they were still waiting to confirm the new return date.

Bosses hope to kickstart filming for the new series on Wednesday, but an air date is still yet to be decided.

The statement read: ‘Just a reminder that the Love Island launch show has been delayed due to wild fires near the villa in South Africa.

‘Everyone is safe though and we’re working on bringing you an iconic series, so keep an eye on our socials and we’ll let you know the new launch date as soon as we can.’

The show’s launch was scheduled for Monday evening but has been delayed after filming couldn’t start over the weekend due to dangerous wildfires.

Earlier on Monday, The Sun reported that it’s hoped filming can finally begin on Wednesday, with a return date yet to be decided.

The delay is reportedly costing ITV over £15,000 an hour because of commitments to crew, staff, camera operators and psychologists, all of whom are on the ground in South Africa awaiting their duties.

Maya flew out last week ahead of the programme’s start, with 12 confirmed Islanders, including Millie Court and Tommy Bradley, staying in high-end accommodations, along with a number of ‘bombshells’ who are yet to be announced.
