As Emily Blunt arrived at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles for this year’s Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, she had just one request: no hugs.
Why? She had a fresh ‘tan’ and didn’t want it to rub off on her pristine white cape dress, she was overheard telling fellow actor Dave Franco.
It’s just one off-camera morsel of gossip captured by the Daily Mail’s spies on the ground at Hollywood’s big night.
A night at which, for the few celebrities with an appetite still left in Hollywood, the rarefied offerings of uber-luxe Japanese restaurant Nobu were served up during the ceremony.
The $125 per person menu included salmon nigiri, caviar and even lobster salad. Which surely makes it shame that, during the ad breaks on the CBS broadcast of the award show, Selena Gomez was spotted eating only edamame beans… and very slowly.
If that was a sign of boredom, she wouldn’t have been alone. 65-year-old Sean Penn appeared to take a quiet moment to shut his eyes, while sat at his table next to Leonardo DiCaprio. At another moment in the evening, long-time smoker Penn lit up a cigarette inside.

Meanwhile, a newly brunette Ariana Grande was notable for the sheer size of her entourage, who surrounded her as she moved in and out of the venue. Her boyfriend and Wicker co-star Ethan Slater was nowhere to be seen. Instead, Grande was accompanied by longtime bestie, Doug Middlebrook, whose arm she gripped throughout the night.
Kevin Hart and his wife Eniko seemed in little mood for celebration.
On one occasion, Kevin tried to talk to her, but she wouldn’t be drawn – appearing irritated. On another, Eniko texted on her phone, her back turned to her husband.
Gayle King came prepared for the long haul. The veteran TV host, 71, secretly switched to clogs under her floor-length sequin gown once she had walked the red carpet. She was busy filming interviews with arriving stars for CBS Mornings and no doubt needed to be steady on her feet.
Eyebrows were raised by King’s interview with overnight sensation Hudson Williams – star of new gay ice hockey romance series, Heated Rivalry.
‘The buzz the whole night, and I’m not exaggerating, was, “They’re coming! They’re coming! They’re coming!”‘ King said, referring to the fevered anticipation around Williams and his co-star Connor Storrie.
But Williams crudely replied, ‘Yeah, we do that a lot’ – a reference to the show’s many sex scenes.

Off the red carpet and inside the ballroom, word was that Timothee Chalamet and girlfriend Kylie Jenner – glittering in figure-hugging gold and looking just like the Best Actor trophy he was about to win – were the couple to be seen with.
Stars lined up to greet Chalamet, with Jenner largely saying nothing, a source seated nearby noted.
That insider described the couple as ‘snogging all night’ when the cameras weren’t on them. While another joked: ‘He couldn’t keep his hands off her gigantic butt.’
Which is perhaps surprising, as the Daily Mail’s lip reader caught what appears to have been a tense exchange between the couple, with Jenner allegedly branding Chalamet ‘annoying’ just before the ceremony began.
Also causing a stir was Amanda Seyfried and her rather suspect facial expressions. The actress was nominated and lost in the category of Best Actress.
But, as Rose Byrne was announced as the victor for her role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Seyfried was caught on camera grimacing, forcing a smile and applauding.
Some critics branded the moment ‘mean girl’ behavior, but now an insider has told us what really happened.

‘Amanda was having fun at the Globes because she knew she was going to lose and she was fine with that,’ the source said. ‘She thinks it is ridiculous that people are making a big drama over her reaction to losing as it was only done to be funny and silly. She would never disrespect her fellow nominees.’
Representatives for Seyfried did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Reports swirled of stars including Selena Gomez and Kristen Bell leaving the ceremony early – with awards still to be announced.
Also among the first out the door: Actors Jeremy Allen White and Patrick Schwarzenegger, and podcaster Alex Cooper.
As for the afterparties, it’s said that Netflix’s bash at posh eatery Spago in Beverly Hills was the place to be.Â
Nick Jonas and wife Priyanka Chopra were apparently all over each other, kissing and touching any time they weren’t talking to people or posing for photos. One source said: ‘It seemed like they were making up for lost time!’
Fresh off their win for Best Animated Feature, the cast and crew of KPop Demon Hunters were the most sought after picture of the night at Spago.
Fifteen minutes away at Sunset Tower Hotel, comedian Nikki Glaser, who had hosted the Globes, also held a star-studded affair.Â
Jennifer Lopez was said to be making it her mission to talk to Glaser, telling others that ‘she loves her and that they need to work together.’
