Jessie Buckley celebrated her huge Golden Globes success with her husband Freddie Sorensen before rejoicing in Hamnet’s win with her co-star Paul Mescal.
The actress, 36, who was the toast of Hollywood on Sunday evening, was awarded the Best Actress gong for Hamnet, which also picked up Best Film.
Jessie toasted her win with her rarely-seen partner, who carved out a varied behind-the-scenes career in TV before stepping away to work in mental health.
She recently revealed that Freddie will ‘never walk the red carpet with her’ due to his career, but he was by her side when she attended the Globes.
Jessie, exchanged vows with Freddie in 2023, and she insists the sensitive nature of his profession means he should remain anonymous.
But speaking on stage during her acceptance speech, Jessie did reference her husband and joked he had been ‘enjoying the free canapes and cocktails’.

But Freddie wasn’t the only man Jessie was celebrating with at the ceremony, as she also spent the evening soaking up her success with her screen love Paul.
The co-stars, who have formed a firm friendship since shooting the film, were pictured larking about after their movie collected the top honour.
Paul, 29, was playfully snapped biting into the card which announced their film as the winner, while Jessie leant over to also grab it in her mouth.
Jessie recently set tongues wagging when she claimed she could ‘drink Paul like water’ after working with him on the criticially acclaimed picture.
Last week at the Critics Choice Awards, she spoke directly to Paul who was sat in the audience and showered the hunky actor with compliments.
At one point she referred to her co-star’s heartthrob status, telling him: ‘I bl**dy love you, man, and I know loads of other women do in this room too, but tough s**t!’
Paul’s laughter then turned to tears as Jessie gushed from the podium: ‘You’re a giant of the heart and thank you so much for making me a little bit more human.’
But last night she clarified her comments, saying: ‘I just wanted to clarify what I meant by that. I meant that he is essential to what I need as an actor and what I’ve discovered as an actor is possible in what we do in our work.

‘He brings you to the core of your humanity and once know what that is, it becomes like water.’
Responding to Jessie’s kind words, Paul said: ‘Jessie I think I said this, but when the dust settles on this awards chat, they’re gonna be studying what she did in Hamnet in drama school – they are going to be talking about this forever.
‘It’s one of the greatest performances we’re going to be seeing for years. And we can celebrate the film for the next couple of weeks. We’re going to be celebrating her.
‘But the big celebration will be in 10, 15, 20 years time. We’re going to be celebrating what she did forever.’Â
As well as gushing over her husband, during the evening Jessie also hailed Julia Roberts a ‘hero’ as she beat her to ther Best Female Actor in a Drama category.
Jessie’s performance in Hamnet saw her take the prize ahead of the Hollywood legend, who was shortlisted for After the Hunt.
She paid a heartfelt tribute to all her fellow nominees, including Jennifer Lawrence (Die, My Love), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), Tessa Thompson (Hedda), and Eva Victor (Sorry, Baby).

Speaking on stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, Jessie said: ‘Oh my God, the incredible women I am honoured to stand beside in this category.
‘Julia Roberts, you are a hero to us all, thank you. Jennifer, Renata, Eva, Tessa, I’d watch you any time, anywhere, you blow my mind.
‘This is a real, real honour, I love what I do and I love being part of this industry.’
As she thanked the cast and crew of Hamnet, Jessie humorously paid particular tribute to a grip, who had happily made soup for everyone on set.
She said: ‘This is not a normal feeling or situation to be in but thank you Golden Globes, thank you Focus and everybody who supported this film. .
‘It was such an extraordinary set to be a part of because we were telling the story of the most famous Brit who ever lived. And we had a Chinese director—lots of Irish, and mostly Polish crew, besides our British family.
‘I’d really like to thank our grip, Tomak, because during shooting he started to disappear a little bit and I found him one day at the back of his truck and he was chopping up potatoes, onions and meat and he was making – he’d brought a giant cast iron pot over from Poland – he was making soup, and the soup started turning up on set.
‘It was delicious, so thanks Tomak for bringing your pot to set.’
Speaking last week to British Vogue, the Irish native revealed that her husband’s career as a ‘mental health worker’ means he has no plans to join her at the Critics Choice Awards.
But, Islington-born Freddie has a surprisingly starry CV – including a stint working alongside Simon Cowell on the X Factor.
Before stepping away from the industry, Freddie worked on producing shows such as ITV’s Game of Talents UK with Vernon Kay and later helping revive BBC’s Gladiators, producing two episodes of the 2022 reboot, according to iMDB.
Meanwhile, in 2016, he also co-launched the ‘hipster’ startup Rebel Bingo – a boozy, high-energy reinvention of the traditional game aimed squarely at younger crowds.

The venture grew out of years Freddie spent staging raucous variety nights at Farringdon town hall, long before he met his future wife.
Jessie and Freddie – whom she has described as ‘extraordinary’ – tied the knot in romantic surroundings at their idyllic 15th-century home in Norfolk, after five years together.
They were introduced by mutual friend Marc Robinson, a senior Universal Records executive whose stars include Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. Their first date featured a stroll along Regent’s Canal in Hackney, east London.
Last year, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter who is now four months old.
Jessie, who shot to prominence in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BBC talent series I’d Do Anything in 2008, this week told Vogue her husband would not be making a ‘red-carpet debut in their immediate future.’Â
She joked instead that while he’s been ‘having a ball eating canapés’ at promotional events for Hamnet, which explores Shakespeare’s grief following the death of his young son, he won’t be attending the big ceremony.Â
Despite her comments, Freddie has attended the Oscars before.

The events evolved into Rebel Bingo Club and later the era-themed party night The End of the World.
Rebel Bingo’s Instagram page, which boasts more than 3,500 followers, remains active and now promotes ‘immersive experiences for brave souls’, including haunted bingo events.
After leaving television and events behind, Freddie retrained at university and shifted his focus to mental health awareness.
He later launched the podcast Depression For Beginners, created to help others experiencing the illness he himself had experienced.

She said some judges’ comments were sexist and overly focused on her appearance, describing the experience as ‘brutalising.’Â
Jessie said: ‘Back then, I was just trying to move into a space of myself. I really hope that a 15, 17, whatever-age woman never has to be brutalised quite like what happened on that show.
‘But I didn’t recognise it fully at the time. I just felt it, which was difficult.’
