Dave Hughes is known for pushing the envelope.
But the comedian has shared the one time he went too far – and offended his wife Holly’s family.
The 55-year-old says that he once ‘got the giggles’ while hosting a radio show at an ‘inappropriate’ time when Holly’s grandmother had just died.
‘A couple of years ago, when my wife’s grandmother passed, I was on radio and for some reason – I can’t remember the actual incident or what triggered it – but I might have got the giggles,’ he told Stellar Magazine.
‘It was inappropriate and I knew that. It’s like laughing in church,’ he continued.
‘Sometimes you’re not meant to laugh. And so that’s when you do laugh because you’re not meant to.

‘I was trying to stop laughing, but I think her uncle was listening to the radio at the time and he was very offended and fair enough, too.
‘So that took a little bit to get him back on board.’
Dave married his wife Holly on New Year’s Eve in 2006 and they share three children together: Rafferty, 16, Sadie, 14, and Tess, 12.
The performer has been on the road to recovery in recent months after being discharged from hospital last year.
He was left battered and bruised following a heavy collision in a charity AFL Legends Game in August.
Hughes suffered multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung during the contest while lining up for Victoria against the All Stars.
The injury occurred after a crunching clash with former AFL players Andrew Embley, Daniel Gorringe and Mitch Robinson, with Hughes bravely continuing to play despite the obvious pain.
Remarkably, he even stayed on to celebrate with teammates following the final siren before his condition worsened overnight.

His wife later drove him to hospital, where doctors confirmed the extent of his injuries and began treatment.
‘I am loving the attention, you know that. You know what I’m like,’ Dave joked after his injury.
Hughes has been taking it easy in recent months after being sacked from his radio show.
It’s been 18 months since his 2Day FM radio show, Hughesy, Ed & Erin, with co-hosts Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan was cancelled, leaving him temporarily out of work.
But Dave says he’s doing well regardless.
‘I’ve made a lot of money over the years and I’ve never been hooked on cocaine or bought a mega yacht, so money’s not an issue for me…’ Hughes told Stellar.
