Josie Gibson reveals what she eats in a day after ‘1970s diet’ aided her incredible five stone weight loss

Josie Gibson has revealed the secret behind her incredible five stone weight loss and what she eats to maintain her stunning figure.

The presenter, 40, has been open about her fluctuating weight, having gone from a size 20 to a size eight in 2014.

But after years of yo-yo dieting and insisting she would never touch weight loss jabs, Josie has finally found what works for her.

The mother-of-one told Daily Mail that she swears by intermittent fasting three days a week, a simple gym routine and a ‘1970s diet’, which involves smaller portions and foods like boiled potatoes, liver, spam, pork, beans, and Angel Delight.

The diet also involves simpler, less processed foods, little sugar and an emphasis on home cooked meals over ‘convenience’ like takeaways and frozen ready meals.

But the modest TV personality has said much of her weight loss is down to a combination of ‘stress’ and ‘good angles’ as she claims ‘I’m not as slim as you think’.

Speaking to the Daily Mail she praised her trainer Rick Parcell, co-founder of The Body Camp.

The gym coach hosts a gruelling 12 week at home program to help people get in shape and reach their goals.

Josie revealed she used to find the gym ‘so intimidating’ but now her workout routine consists of three simple things; a 0.5km run on the treadmill, 15 squats using a 22kg weight and 25 sit ups, all repeated three times.

The This Morning star, who is currently in Thailand after celebrating the new year there, says she ‘loves a brunch’ but is being healthier.

But for Josie, healthy food doesn’t mean always restricting yourself as she added: ‘I’ve eaten my way around Thailand. The food is amazing!’

In her book The Josie Gibson Diet, the star also revealed she lost more than 31kg in six months by cutting out refined sugars entirely, only eating those which appear naturally in fruits.

She also partakes in intermittent fasting, where she eats nothing at all for eight hours a day, three times a week.

After a busy year, Josie also put her weight loss down to stress brought on by work, motherhood and remodeling her new house.

Josie's weight loss success has been widely discussed, as she has been showcasing her new frame on Instagram and on This Morning (pictured with a friend)

‘I bought a house which I’m renovating in Bath, trying to be a mum, running around the country working.

‘I got so overwhelmed I got to Thailand and slept for 27 hours,’ Josie said.

She added: ‘I think it must be good angles, I’m so chunky and not as slim as you think.’

Last week, Josie admitted she was ’emotionally burnt out’ ahead of the south east Asia trip.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘Coming to Thailand has been so good for the soul. I came emotionally burnt out and the energy here is so special its making me feel ready for anything.

‘I am so grateful for life love and incredible connections. I’ve Loved hanging at the @anantaralayanphuket with @cheskahull and the gang. This place is seriously sexy!!!’

Released this week was her new Channel 5 show, The 1970s Diet: Could It Work for You? sees Jodie transform her lifestyle in a bid to drop the pounds.

The show explores whether the food habits of the seventies could offer a solution to modern-day obesity.

The mother-of-one received an authentic meal plan from a nutritionist and had to get on board with smaller portions and enjoy foods like boiled potatoes, liver and spam.

‘If I’m taking on this experiment, then I’m showing it all, that’s the experiment. If you don’t show the experiment, what’s the point?

‘It was nice to know that even though I was overweight, I was at a supreme fitness level. I was expecting to have a low fitness level, even though I’ve always exercised. But he was like, “No, you’re at a superior fitness rate”‘, Josie told The Mirror.

In the two-part show Josie also explores the 1970s fashion and exercise.

She added: ‘I think 1970s fashion was my favorite era. It’s so gorgeous. When I got down there, I picked up my sizes that I am and went to the changing rooms and I was absolutely devastated. I didn’t know about vanity sizing.’

Speaking about the exciting new show, Josie said: ‘Taking on a full 1970s diet was no easy feat – this was a totally unique experience!

‘The ’70s had some pretty wacky food trends, but what surprised me the most was how different our approach to eating, exercise, and even shopping was back then. It was a fascinating journey – viewers are going to love it.’

Josie revealed earlier this year that she had shed five stone – without the help of fat jabs or surgery.

She said in an Instagram post: ‘I didn’t get a gastric bypass; I got off my big a**e, moved more, ate less and educated myself on what I was stuffing into my body.’

The former Big Brother winner revealed that she followed the Do The Unthinkable plan, which from the company MuscleFood, which provided meals that cut out refined sugars, workout plans, and support to help people reach their health goals.

Josie explained that she has six days on and one day off, saying: ‘Now on that one day off, I had one cheat meal.

‘I didn’t go crazy and drink 10 bottles of wine and binge all day on food and chocolate and all the naughty things I haven’t been having.

‘I just had my one cheat and that was it. So if you’ve got that one day off, don’t undo all your hard work. Just have your one cheat meal and enjoy it. Don’t have a binge.’
