Former Married at First Sight star Lucinda Light has taken to social media to update followers after the raging bushfire in Victoria threatened to destroy her regional property.
The 44-year-old, who is currently in London, shared the shocking news that her elderly mother has fled her property on The Great Ocean Road south of Bells Beach.
The state is under a total fire ban after bushfires have killed one person, destroyed at least 10 homes, and razed more than 50,000 hectares of bushland.Â
In a lengthy and emotional post she shared on Sunday morning, Lucinda said her mother and nephew left the area because it was no longer safe.
Alongside a confronting image of the raging bushfire and smoke-filled sky, Lucinda’s Instagram message also paid tribute to firefighters currently battling the blaze.
‘My heart’s been heavy watching the fires in my home state of Victoria, Australia, the last couple of days,’ she began.

‘So many places have been ablaze and are under immediate threat.
‘We love our sunburnt country, our land of sweeping plains but come summer, soaring heatwaves and fires regularly threaten our homes, farms, animals and our people.
‘My mum and nephew, Willow, have evacuated from our home on the Great Ocean Rd. Mum felt it safer to go to her sister’s on the Peninsula…’
Lucinda declared ‘massive gratitude’ to the ‘wonderful and brave’ firefighting folks and all the volunteers who have tirelessly fought to contain the fires.Â
She continued: ‘Bloody legends! To all those that have lost their homes – I’m so f***ing sorry.
‘I just checked numbers online and about 130 so far have been destroyed. Question: Have you made a fire escape bag with first aid kit, spare water, blanket, torch etc? What’s in yours?
‘Stay safe. Look out for your neighbours. It happens all so quickly! My love and thoughts are with you all from London,’ she said and signed the message, ‘Lu’ with a kiss.

‘So much work poured into that property, and the fires ripped through, decimating everything in its path. Sending love to all in unimaginably stressful times.’
Bachelor star Alex Nation also took to her Instagram to share how she has been touched by the bushfires.
Posting a photo taken from her driveway, the image showed a gigantic, ominous cloud of smoke rising over the horizon just outside her home.
She also shared a very harrowing message on another news photo that showed a plane flying amid a sickening cloud of thick smoke.
‘Last night, life felt like it was balanced on a knife’s edge,’ she began.
Referencing her earlier post, Alex, 35, added that watching the hill just outside her home was the ‘hardest part’ of the ordeal.
‘Communities are losing homes, livelihoods, pieces of themselves, and the grief of that loss hangs thick in the air, even from afar.’
The mother-of-three went on to praise the hard work and bravery of emergency service workers and volunteers.
‘And through it all, there is nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for our firefighters, SES workers and volunteers,’ she added.
‘The courage it takes to stand in front of something so fierce and unpredictable is beyond words. They are risking their lives to protect strangers, homes, forests, livestock, wildlife, beloved pets and futures.’
Premier Jacinta Allan announced overnight a state of disaster had been declared across 18 local government areas and the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, as authorities in Wahring warned some communities had been ‘completely obliterated’.
She said the declaration was made due to the threat to life or property and ‘sends a clear message to those who have been advised to leave: If you can, you must’.
State authorities have described the crisis as the worst bushfires since the 2019-2020 Black Summer blazes.
